Location but mildew

Location was great, and management was very responsive. House was not cleaned well before our arrival, and so we had to clean before we could use. Downstairs had a very strong mold/mildew smell. It was unusable for me due to my allergies. When it rained, we figured out where the smell was coming from because the rain came in downstairs, to where there were actually puddles inside. It's listed as 4 bedrooms, but the 2 bedrooms downstairs are non-conforming.

Perfect Night Before a Cruise

We enjoyed our stay. It was a little far out of town (which we knew), but was very easy to get to and less traffic. There is a nice marina very close to the resort with great food and bars, so you don't have to go all the way back to town. The previous reviews about the musty smell in the lower level are accurate. I would say it was mild and for some of us, barely noticeable. This is also something I would expect out of a lower level near a beach. Definitely was not overpowering and did not effect our stay. The entire place was well decorated and accommodated our family well. It was clean and right across from the beach. There were beach views from the deck. Would definitely stay again.

Pretty house with so many issues

Zachary house Pros: - [ ] House is pretty, large, uncluttered, mattresses and sheets are comfortable. The porch swing is sturdy, is a nice perk. There was plenty TP, trash bags, dish soap, and laundry detergent. There were not a million rules, and they were all reasonable. Beach access was close and convenient. Cons:- [ ] No rails on indoor stairs- we had to rearrange our sleeping arrangements, bc it was not safe for our adults with knee and hip issues to climb the stairs. My 11 year old fell on the stairs because of no rails. I would not bring small children, unless I brought a gate for the top of the stairs. - [ ] The sliding door needed 2 people to open and close it, and wouldn’t lock. Then it wouldn’t open at all. We called the owners and they sent someone out; they greased it, so it would open and close. But it still wouldn’t lock, so anyone could walk in. Plus there’s no blinds or curtains over the sliding door, so downstairs sleepers were up with the sun. - [ ] Upstairs half bath- no blinds or curtain in the bathroom, no privacy for changing clothes. No bars or hooks for hanging washcloths or towels.- [ ] Only 7 towels, 5 spoons and 7 forks for 8 people. Every dish we grabbed was dirty. We ended up putting everything we might use in the dishwasher. - [ ] King bedroom upstairs bedside table is peeling. The bedside lamp cannot be plugged in without an extension cord. - [ ] Space limit won’t allow me to list all the problems. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

Great location and plenty of room

We lived our stay. Sea Isle is the perfect spot for those who love the beach and love to fish. This is our 4th stay in the neighborhood and this is such a great location with tons of room. We used the kitchen quite a bit, spent tons of time on the patio, and loved the bathroom and bedroom space. Like other reviews have stated, there is a bit of a musty smell downstairs but, honestly, that is pretty normal in the downstairs areas of these homes. We spent most of our time outside anyway.

Lovely stay!

This was a very nice place for our family to stay for a few days. We had several adults and kids and the house fit us well, with lots of room to spread out! If you're bringing infants or crawling children, a safety gate might be helpful for the stairs. Was clean and well stocked.

Check in was easy ! Property looks just like the pictures . Problem is it was raining so rain was coming inside the house all over the floors and furniture downstairs. House had a really strong mold/mildew smell . I sent pictures and notified hosts nothing was done . No one came to check the leaking water in house or anything. No apology no empathy. Again the house was cute but the smell was over bearing we had to buy several candles and cleaning products to enjoy the stay .

We had a Super stay at Zachary House! We had a great time sitting on the deck watching the waves and relaxing. Spending time with family was so good and bringing our parents was great! Host was attentive to our needs very satisfied!

Cleanliness

Overall my party was concerned about all the mold and mildew smell that succumbed the whole house. There was mold on the lamps, the pillow cases, and walls throughout the home. I have pictures if needed. The Wi-fi did not work the entire stay, and we ultimately had to use our personal hotspot to watch anything. There was hair left in the shower from previous guests which leads me to believe the house wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. Overall we made the best of the situation! The Zachary House is a nice property, but given the initial experience we probably wouldn’t rent here again!

Great home for a group of teens!!

This property worked so well for us. The large game room housed 7 girls and the two rooms connected by the bathroom housed all the boys with one room and a comfortable couch lest over. The back yard is relaxing and it was great that the kids could jump in the lake at any time. We did a lot of cooking and always had what we needed for our group of 13. Thank you!

This was a beautiful home and very spacious loved the outside deck on top. The only thing is it said there was a community pool there were no pictures and it turned out to not be so nice therefore we didn’t use pool. Other than that everything was great.

Overnight in Galveston

My family all met at this home to stay the night before we left on a cruise. It worked perfectly for what we needed. There is a restaurant in the neighborhood and we had coffee on the deck in the morning while watching the ocean. The house had lots of accommodations and fit all 10 of us comfortably! We will stay there again.
