I would really like to leave 5 stars because the communication was great and the hosts were so kind and flexible with my issues in booking, but Iâm leaving 3 because of cleanliness and location. Although the place appeared very tidy and the decor was nice, it wasnât actually very clean (and honestly this might be my own personal issues and others might not feel the same). There were a LOT of spiders, too many for someone with a severe fear of spiders. We were only there one night and we all showered before bed. My kid played for a little while the next morning and the soles of his feet were black with dirt from the floor.
Good overall experience. Pros:Close to plenty of tastings and restaurants in town, 1-5 minute drive to most places in geneva.Place is very clean, one of the cleanest I've stayed in.Host communication was very good.Comfortable bed and pillows.Cons:50 feet from a main highway.Small and tight driveway.Right next to frat houses, could hear their music until 9 pm.Small shower. No microwave.Bed is in the main living area.Unit is not made for multiple couples. Good for a family of 4 or less.Pets:Good place to have pets if you follow their rules, very few things for dogs to get into and tear up. Please clean up after your dog, several piles of dog waste in the yard.
The VRBO picture shows the front of the house, but unit #5 can only be entered from the back. It is a basement suite, the design of which would be perfect for someone attending the nearby university, but not for two couples. (The person sleeping in the queen-sized bed in the small bedroom must open their door and step into the living area, which now contains a king-sized bed in order to transit to the bathroom.) The bedroom contains no furniture except for the bed and one very small night table which has no lamp. The closet contains painting and renovation supplies. It ought to be possible to put some drawer storage space inside the closet. The apartment has a beautiful back patio which we utilized to sip wine in perfect weather. There are only two problems. The lot is immediately adjacent to a major highway and there is significant traffic noise from truck climbing the hill at the expected times of the day, beginning at 06:45. The perfect cement patio has no railings and a 6" -9" drop onto sloping grass. It needs a safety railing and is currently completely unsuitable for small children. The location is well situated to walk downtown for a good choice of restaurants. This unit would be OK and a good value for a family of four that did not have toddlers.
The unit was very clean and neat and a very nice neighborhood with less than a half mile walk to downtown. The only downsides were no microwave or dishwasher, and only one frying pan plus it is adjacent to a busy road with lots of trucks so it was difficult to sit outside and chat. However with the air conditioner running and comfortable beds, we could not hear the noise and slept well. Also, heads up that the master bedroom is essentially the living room as well so anyone staying in the second bedroom has to walk into the master bedroom in order to get to the kitchen or bathroom.
