We spent a wonderful thanksgiving weekend with our son and his young family at Hirox. Josh and Tonya could not have made the process easier nor could they have been more communicative and welcoming, from the detailed and easy to follow directions and check in, to the card, note, gift and souvenir that we found upon our arrival. Josh and Tonya have created a beautiful space both inside and out. The love and care that have gone into this home is evident as is their willingness to make guests feel at home throughout thrur stay. The high end touches like appliances, bath fixtures, art, lighting and linens flow seamlessly with with the rustic charm of the Catskills to create a vibe where you can’t help but relax and enjoy. While we could not take advantage of the expansive and gorgeous back deck, pool or fire pit, we could imagine the beauty of a summer stay as well. We did get to enjoy the front porch, Adirondack chairs and swing especially in the afternoon when the sun warmed even on the chilliest days. Though I brought a number of my own kitchen items in anticipation of serving a Thanksgiving meal, I needn’t have. The kitchen was the most well stocked that we have seen, down to a meat thermometer and cutting board large enough for a turkey! The main floor was very comfortable for gathering and for four to dine comfortably at the counter island. With more, it was necessary to carry and serve dinner on the lowers level. A lovely and spacious area but do note that the cooking and serving areas for more than four, is separate. Two full baths was a crowd pleaser and accommodated our two families perfectly. Again, high end down to bidets, shower items and surprisingly wonderful woven towels. The beds were comfortable and fitted with good sheets and comforters, not the cheap stuff used in too many rentals. The loft area was especially spacious and my favorite place but, do note that the bathroom is a flight down from this sleeping area. Hand woven and fur blankets were an arms reach from every seating area in case you wanted to cozy up, which we did!
Overall this is one of the best experiences we have had and we will hopefully return to Hirox soon. It combines the best of two worlds that we have come to love-the hideaway cabin in the mountains that’s actually not “too hidden”, with modern luxuries and accoutrements! Five stars very, very well deserved!
