The pictures do not do this property justice. The outside pics are charming, and it is, but they make it look small. We have 5 adults, a teen and a tween, so I almost passed for that reason. Actually, it’s big on the inside, it had lots of room for all of us. The beds and linens were very comfy, the kitchen had everything I needed for meal preps, they really thought of everything. When we get together with kids and grandkids like this just to enjoy each other’s company the house and surroundings are central. We want a place that is unique, that has all the attention to detail that makes it feel special. This place was exactly what we wanted. It’s out in the country, on water, but very nice. It’s the nicest “cabin” I’ve ever been in! We spent lots of time in the kayaks. The canoe is not the small kind you have to kneel in, it has 2 seats. You could even fish from it. I loved taking it out onto the lake. There is a place to swim a short drive from the cabin. We went Father’s Day and it was too crowded to get a picnic table in the shade, luckily Lavonne suggested we take their 2 umbrella chairs. We went back Tuesday and had the lake to ourselves. We drove 18 miles to Fort Parker state park and did a short hiking trail that was shaded all the way and ended at their swimming spot. It was on Monday, we had the lake to ourselves again. The lakes are beautiful, I loved kayaking down the creek. It reminded me of the bayou I grew up on. This patch of Texas is just really undiscovered. The internet is iffy so calls and texts don’t always go through right away, just be aware. Lavonne is great about responding right away to questions. She is very helpful. My son and daughter didn’t have any trouble finding the cabin using their pinned google map address, but I like putting an address in Maps or Waze. Both had trouble recognizing the address. Part of the address has LCR in it. I think CR stands for county road. We discovered if you leave out the L maps and Waze can find the cabin.
We weren’t here one of the days Billy B’s was open. I understand it is a must for barbecue. Instead we went to Los Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant in Groesbeck. It was wonderful. I highly recommend the beef fajitas.
I know this is long but I always read all the reviews to pick our vacation spots. I never want to waste a trip. I would definitely come back here!
