Great location, absence of empathy towards allergy sufferers.
We checked in at 4 and were immediately hit by a strong odor from an oil-based Febreze air freshener plug-in that filled the entire house. My husband suffers from severe asthma and allergies, which led us to reach out to the owner for assistance. She quickly asserted that there were no air fresheners present and suggested we simply air out the place. We even offered to send her photos of the plug-in as proof. Following her recommendation, we removed the air freshener and set it on the deck, then spent over an hour in our sweltering car with our dogs, but the chemical scent continued to pervade the home. Ultimately, we had to inform her that staying there was not feasible, which we communicated around 5:30 PM.
We were left unsure of our next steps since she didn’t respond until 10 PM, showing little concern for our situation as we had nowhere else to go. At that point, she suggested sending her cleaning team the next morning. In the meantime, we had to secure alternative lodging at our own expense. The following day, she claimed that her cleaners found no indication of air fresheners, despite having instructed us to remove it initially. Given the circumstances, we had to find other accommodations. She refunded the pet fee and cleaning costs, she refused to consider a refund for even a single night due to the lingering odor.
I truly hope that if you face a similar situation in the future, she will exhibit more understanding than she did with us.
