We had a good stay. It was a great weekend and the house is perfectly located for our needs. The house is dated but most everything worked. We could feel the house move at times which is a strange feeling. We are not sure if that happens due to the stilts or if there is an issue. It was nice to have the walkway over the dunes next door. The only thing better would be to have a private walkway over the dunes. Access and communication was good. The beach was gorgeous and wasn't super crowded. 3 1/2 stars
When booking this rental we knew it wouldnât be âfancyâ and we donât need fancy. We paid A LOT of money for this rental due to it being directly on the beach. The location was amazing however the home needs completely gutted and redone. I wasnât expecting fancy however when you walk in and the tile floors are cracked or coming up in spots, the shower heads barely work, thereâs appliances in the kitchen with an out of order sign on it, beds in guest rooms were very uncomfortable, and not to mention our first day there when we pulled into the driveway the trash can was completely over flowing with trash even on the ground next to the can, the smell was horrendous when we got out of our car due to said trash. Thereâs a lot of potential at the property however the home needs a completely gutted overhaul on it and needs A LOT of tlc. Also, the ad for the house doesnât mention that the walkway for public access to the beach is right next to the house so there were people walking basically in your yard at all hours of the day and it was very noisy. While we made the best of our stay our family will not be returning and will be staying somewhere else going forward.
We enjoyed our stay! The house is in a very good location just down the strip, yet close to everything. The house was clean and very comfortable. I enjoyed that the kitchen was stocked with many pots, pans, bowls, all that is needed, ect. Their communication with any of my questions was exceptional!! They quickly responded to me and very friendly! The house is a bit dated, but very clean (which was the most important to me!) I feel like the pricing reflected it perfect! I would stay here again.
Overall a great horse right on the beach with spectacular views. The house did not have a functioning ice maker. We had to purchase ice daily. There was not a TV in every bedroom. The refrigerator leaked water occasionally. Other than those few things it was a great beach house. My family enjoyed being able to sit on the deck and watch the sunriseâs and sunsetâs each day! We canât wait to visit Gulf Shores again!
Love this house and location but Please do some updating
We have stayed In this house multiple times over the past several years and the location and size are perfect for our familyâŠwe have loved it but it just keeps getting worse when it comes to cleanliness and things needing to be fixed. Some of the lights did not have bulbs in them like the ceiling fans in bedrooms. The blender had a big crack in it and someone just put scotch tape over it. The ceilings fans and the outlets had a lot of dust on them and there was so much food under the couch. The beds are awful. The box fan they have was broken. Nothing has been updated in the years we have stayed there. We hope they take this review and just maybe fix a few things and update a little because we love the location and home.
It did the trick but had some issues that need fixed
The house is right on the beach with a great view. However, we traveled with a crawling baby, and this house is not recommended for the elderly or babies. The tile floor is cracking, exposing sharp pieces. We moved the living room rug to lie on top due to a sock getting snagged. We were afraid of our daughter's leg getting cut. There were MANY exposed nails and screws that need hammered back down on the deck stairs and the board walk under the stairs. My husband had one cut his foot. The cleaning process must be super quick because there was a condom wrapper under the couch... The communication from the manager is very great, though.
This is the place for anyone who spends all day on the beach, and only comes in at night. The house was spacious for our party of 9, except in the living room. It is an older home, so it needs some upgrading. The photos were very accurate, except for a few things. We came in to find tiles broken and/or loose, along with some water damage spots on the ceiling where the popcorn had come off. During our stay a storm came through that caused the home to sway, then the main door started rubbing the floor and we noticed more tiles loosening. The fridge door didnât have a handle, only the freezer door, and it leaked. There were also some marks on walls, which can be expected in a rental property, since not everyone treats others properties with respect. The home is not friendly for anyone with walking or balance issues as one stairwell was very steep, and the other was only accessible through loose sand. The mattresses were way too soft and loud for us. The walkway appears in the photos to be for the property, however it is for a condo building across the road. There are no solid walls between the walkway and your vehicles/belongings. We didnât experience any issues with other beach-goers, but I know it may be a deal breaker for some. Also the driveway was very soft sand that may get small or low riding vehicles stuck. We had our truck wheels spin in it while exiting the property.Overall we enjoyed our stay, but we didnât spend much time inside.
Upon arrival found thermostat set at 67 but temperature reading was 80 inside, no internet and no ability to watch tv and a leaking fridge. Property manager was prompt in responses and communicative but that didnât fix any of the issues. AC repairman came out that night to refill Freon which promptly leaked out. Went without ac for 5 days. No internet for 4 days. Fridge never got repaired. Got tired of having to complain, got tired of repairmen and issues. They offered us a couple of extra days for free but with work out, uncomfortable beds, hurricane shutters that wouldnât latch shut keeping us up at night banging in the wind, a ceiling fan that made constant noise, a house that sways with every step, and all of the other issues, who would want to stay longer?! As a consolation prize they refunded 1 night of the rental. Doubtful that even covers my cell phone hotspot usage for the 4 days without internet. At least the next renter will have a brand new ac unit, which is about the only thing in the house from this decade, maybe even this century Location is amazing. House needs way more than just some TLC and updates, it needs a major overhaul. We have visited Gulf Shores/Orange Beach for 11 years in a row, always renting houses directly on the beach so we have seen a lot of what the place has to offer. This one is at the very bottom of the list.
The location to tbe beach was fantastic. The house needs a little maintenance and updating but the lay out worked great & accomadated our family of 8. We would stay here again.
Perfect house. On the beach, beautiful views.
I will say the steps to the house are steep and hard for some elderly people but other than that great trip!!
My family and I loved this house! We were so happy to find a home steps from the beach and in our price range. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The first night one of the showers was not draining well, we contacted management and they sent someone to fix it the same day. They were on it!
We went in early fall and the street was not busy or loud and we were able to set up on the beach directly in front of the house. Saw dolphins in the morning and a beautiful view of the sunrise/sunset. We plan to visit again!
Overall the stay was great. The house could use some updates. The bathrooms need work done tubs were super clogged where you was taking a bath and shower at the same time.
The house was perfect for our family!! Our only issue was the driveway. One side of the driveway was very hard to get in and out of because of the deep sand. There were several times we almost got stuck lol. Other than that it was great and we would defy stay here again!!
Amazing beach access. Spacious home, great location. Very minimal kitchen accessories though, not even salt and pepper. All of the beds upstairs were very uncomfortable. Most of us ended up sleeping on the floor or the couch cushions. If the mattresses are replaced/updated then we would definitely book here again.
1969 is more than just an address, itâs also the motif of the house. Old. Dated. Shocking since it was built in the 90âs.
Six week later Laura Bâs feedback is still relevant. The homeowner does not seem interested in the suggestions the property management company is making.
The cons: The kitchen is minimally stocked at best, no sponge, no salt & pepper. The house rocks in the wind, it feels scarier than it actually is structurally, but itâs a fairly easy fix. The metal straps under the house are all heavily rusted, this house would not be save in severe weather. The windows do not open, they actually have old notes written on them, so itâs not a new problem. The blinds do not have stings to go up & be able to have a clear view of the ocean from the master. The windows are very dirty/dated & they have some kind of film over them. The only light in the master bedroom is the lamp on the nightstand. The lights in the fan do not work. The TVs are very dated - think big box (our kids didnât know what they were), it would be better to have one nice TV in the living room & none in the bedrooms. While sweeping the deck I found a raiser blade.
Pros: the management company was very responsive. We needed help with a drain in the shower & they came same day. The location is legit, perfect to get to town & great for the kids with the beach. If you have feral kids, like we do, there is very little your kids could do to this place that would be noticeable.
Lotus Blossom was the perfect spot for our family vacation with 6 adults and 4 small children. The location is very convenient to everything, yet just far enough from the very busy areas with the condos. The beach was much less crowded, and that made it more enjoyable for us, especially with young children. The short distance from the house to the beach was a pleasant surprise! We have stayed in many other houses in that area, and this one was the closest for hauling all of our stuff to the beach.
The queen bed in the bunkroom and the queen bed in the bedroom without a bath upstairs would be better if the mattresses were thicker, like the one in the front bedroom upstairs. A king sized bed would be ideal in one of the bedrooms also, but overall, we were happy with the house, and really enjoyed our week there.
We would rent this property again.
Location is great. Bunk beds need mattresses-no one would sleep on them. Adequate kitchen-but need that large pot for spaghetti / shrimp. A few improvements outside (fence) would approve appearance. We did get deck chairs delivered while there. There are no chairs on upper deck. Would rent again but would expect improvements over this stay
