Overall, this is a cute cabin in a picturesque part of Connecticut, but from what I have seen traveling through Connecticut it’s all picturesque. Nothing spectacular here
The biggest issue that I had was the property description listed a twin futon, which there definitely was not. I had to put two armchairs together in the family room to make a makeshift bed. There are also no extra linens or pillows either, so make sure you come prepared with those as well. Luckily, we were traveling across the country, so I had a sleeping bag and pillow of my own.
I let my son sleep in the bedroom, and he said that the bed was comfortable, but the blanket underneath the comforter was covered in what we assumed was dog hair. So overall our sleeping experience was very poor.
The house itself was clean, but there are bugs everywhere, which is somewhat expected being next to a lake. Beware of opening the door at night,
We came home after dark one evening and had a swarm of bugs follow us in. I spent an hour just vacuuming them off of the door.
The bathroom does have some issues as well. There is a strong odor of sewage especially by the sink, and I did notice that it became stronger after a shower. Always spiders in the bathroom as well.
The cabin is cute, but there are definitely some kinks that still need to be ironed out especially the “twin futon” that does not exist. For what I paid, I would definitely not return. Hopefully, the owners address these issues for their future guests.
