The property itself was good. It was clean except for some little gnats in the top floor bedroom that bothered my daughter. It was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, towels, beach chairs, etc. It’s close to several restaurants and the ferry to NYC. The lowest floor was humid and a little mildewy smelling when we arrived, but I ran the self cleaning feature on the washing machine and the dehumidifier and it got better. We enjoyed the neighborhood cat who liked to roam the yard and say hi to us through the glass doors. The biggest problem we had was checking in. We were given instructions on how to gain entry to the property, but we could not find the key where we were instructed to pick it up. We called and texted the owner and VRBO multiple times for assistance, but no one was able to help us. The owner did not respond and VRBO suggested we find another place to stay. So, we waited for a few hours and then finally checked into the only hotel we could find nearby with availability. We got the last two rooms they had at that hotel. The next morning the owner apologized and refunded the money for the first night and got us a key for the rest of the trip. She was apparently overseas and had not received our calls. However, we spent more money to reserve two hotel rooms at that hotel than we were refunded. Everything was fine in the end, but it’s just not a great way to start a trip and an inconvenience to have to move after 1 night.
