Overall this house was beautiful! Little eerie at first with such a historical look but that’s because we checked in at night! Just a couple hours after settling in, it felt more comfortable and we slept great. Great area, close enough to everything but far enough for a sense of serene. We loved it! Waking up and looking out the windows was just breath taking! We even seen wild pigs outside!
Few down falls, maps could not find the home so we needed verbal instructions from property manager. The listing was clear that the hot tub does not work but to have just stagnant green water in it was a little eye sore and gross. I’d rather had seen it empty. Omg the kitchen! I would love to have one just like it, minus the roaches. There was a lot of roaches. So we made sure we cleaned regularly and put away any food or snacks. Lastly the lights off rule, definitely a mood slicer. They request the outside lights be off by 9pm which would be fine if you could see 2 ft in front of you but it is pitch black outside and on the last night we sat out on the lanai with the lights on just to share our experience with each other and have a few laughs and absolutely NO music playing just talking… we get the call with a complaint that “there’s a light rule in the book”. I honestly didn’t think we were being a disturbance. So that was a little sad to end the trip that way.
Overall we loved it in Hilo! Would definitely come back!
