The lake was beautiful, and the neighbors were so kind and hospitable. The house was a little different than the photos online and wasn't as clean as I would have hoped. We still had a great time! The deck was very nice (note: you do have to cross the road to get to the waterfront). Overall, good stay for the price.
After multiple attempts to get the check-in information, via phone calls and messaging, no one responded. Eventually we call VRBO who gave us the check-in information. A 7-hr drive later, we arrive at the property with out 4yo son asleep in the back. We try and try to get the lockbox open, but it never did. We call VRBO who keep apologize while putting us on hold to try and reach the manager of the property. We simultaneously are calling as well. After 45-minutes of this with no response, we were the. Forced to try and find a place to stay at 2:30am on a graduation weekend. We were getting turned away at hotel after hotel. Thank god for Marriott and their customer service. We finally got a place and made it to bed by 3:30 am. We later get an email stating they had given us the wrong code. Word of advice make sure you have 1) a manger that responds during regular business hours 2) an emergency line that someone actually manages .
No counter space to really cook. Trash outside in driveway, cobwebs in all the windows when we opened them for fresh air, no fire pit like in pictures, grill full of ashes so we could not use unless we cleaned it. It was clean inside and had everything needed otherwise. Would have also been nice to have TV in main bedroom. The deck on water was across the road - not mentioned in ad.
This property is located on a dead-end road so very little traffic. Beautiful views, great location and very friendly neighbors. We went into Rochester a few times and enjoyed our time there, but found we all liked just hanging at the property. Now, I read the reviews about the door lock not being safe and it was disappointing to find after the reviews about this the door still hasn't been replaced. With that being said, the neighborhood is very qiuet and rural. We would definitely come back.
I really likes the location and the neighborhood of the rental. The stairs to enter the porch haven't been painted in a very long time. It would benefit the owner to make the entry look appealing.
The lock on the front door is very suspect. You can see the inner working of the lock, and to break in, you only have to break the glass and reach in.
The manager of the property was very friendly and communicated well.
Unfortunately the outdoor grill is in need of a cleanup. The soot and ashes were never cleaned from the last tenant(s) and the grate has holes worn through.
The bathrooms are very clean. The bed is very comfy.
We were at the lake with other families with larger homes and groups, so we really didn't spend a lot of time at the house. In light of that, it was what we wanted and needed. We weren't doing any big cooking or hanging out. For the price, we weren't expecting an HGTV model home, so the fact that it was an older home didn't bother us. Only real negative, and it's minor -- the upstairs bathroom door didn't have a lock. It wasn't a problem, but it could have been. Linens were clean and sufficient.
Property was as advertised. Other than a very minor issue with access on arrival, the stay was great. While the weather was blustery and cold, the house remained very warm and cozy.
Love the area but would not stay here or any other property managed by this company
Lovely neighborhood. Nice view. Plenty to do in the area nice and quiet. I appreciated the hot water and newer dishes.
Itâs was clear from when I drove up the photos were taken when the property had just been redone. I couldnât believe I was in the same place. I pulled up looking at disposed of trash and bathtubs in the driveway next door and the outside was very unkempt. I had to call to figure out how to get in the cottage because the instructions were incorrect. It was surface, clean towels, and sheets smelled fresh, but we couldnât open any windows because they were very dirty covered in cobwebs not new theyâve been there for a long time, and many of the screens were torn and would allow bugs in.
The deck overlooking the water was also very unkempt, old furniture rusting, the deck itself looked questionable.
We had some lovely neighbors and the whole neighborhood was extremely friendly and kind. We spent most of our day out and about exploring the area because thereâs no place comfortable to sit in that cottage.
The furniture is old very stained. The couch had fallen through, and was very uncomfortable to sit on, sitting on the porch wasnât any better. We tried to eat dinner on the table on the porch and weâre joined by a couple of spiders when we tried to eat breakfast at the table in the house and turned on the light above it was filled with bugs the. beds were uncomfortable and we ended up leaving a day early because we just couldnât sleep or sit anywhere.
This was a pleasant break spent at a clean and comfortable home on the lake. Check out the local parks for exercise and stunning views. Rochester is nearby for more choices.
It could specify clearly where the lake access is. It was better then what we thought and you could list in the description what guests can use like the kayaks and tubes.
Enjoyed the calm, quiet, serene mornings and nights on the porch, and chats with neighbors. Lots of places to walk from the door or by way of a short drive. Construction in area an eyesore, but not the fault of owners.
