RENTERS BEWARE...I rented this house through VRBO which is posted and managed through BeachBox. It was a one night rental that was made 2 months prior. The trip was to gather my elderly parents and my brothers family (my brother recently passed away from cancer) together at a comfortable home to ensure my mother with dementia could see her grandchildren. The night before we left to head to Houston, I got a text message at 8PM stating that our house was double booked and not longer available. The text stated 'we are not sure how this happened'. Immediately called the number and was met with the most bizarre conversation. The representative not only didn't have ANY thing to offer as far as a solution, he kept repeating to get my refund in a timely manor, I had to cancel on my end. I explained the delicate situation that this put me and my family in, with the only response to me was that I should go back on the VRBO website to look for another home. When I asked for the help of BeachBox, I was told 'that is not possible, there is nothing they can do'. When I kept inquiring on other solutions, I was then told to get a refund, I would get it 'faster' if I cancelled the reservation myself. When I looked at the reservation, it clearly stated 'no refund on cancellations' and inquired with the representative, he said 'this happens all the time' which was odd since the text message stated, 'we are not sure how this happened'. Come to find out from VRBO, sounded like if I was to cancel, not only would I not get my money back per the agreement but also BeachBox wouldn't have to pay a fee to VRBO for the issue on their end. When I asked to have an email sent to me with the company Letterhead stating why my reservation was canceled, I was told 'we do not have email' to which I asked for him to send through a personal email, he stated 'I will not do that'. Lastly, when he said again its best for me to call VRBO, I said 'ok, let's call right now together' he said 'I will not do that'. All in all, I realize mistakes can happen when companies book on multiple sites, but there was ZERO emphasis on helping me and my family find an alternate solution to the situation THEY put us in. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone, as my belief is they have their listings on multiple places and being a 1-night rental, they bumped me with a longer rental to get more money. We ended up getting our refund BUT HAD ZERO HELP to fix the situation for their mistake.
