I love the classic, historic nature. Bathtubs and large spacious room with refrigerator and coffee pot. So many of these new renovations do not include these important things.

Beautiful view

Great service from front desk staff. The view from the room was breathtaking and the room itself was clean and quite large. The Royal Kona Resort is conveniently located to Kailua-Kona. Recommend!

Not worth the money for what they offer

Worst service and rude staff, didn’t offer the room I booked saying they don’t have availability and the resort is overbooked. Very high price for what they offer. Only plus is the location but rest is worst.

This hotel is an old hotel in need of a total renovation or rehab. The staff was friendly and the location is good but it definitely need a lot of maintenance and updating. I would rate it a 2 or 3 maximum.

Upon check in i was told this was in in theit Lagoon tower, "which is freshly rennovated". I got off the elevator to plywood floors, then dirty carpet and a door that dint lock properly.

I reserved a king room in lagoon bldg, got a rm with 2 double (not queen) beds, bad mattresses, baseboards in bathroom were filthy, staff wouldn't change it to king. I've stayed here since 1990's, loved it, what a disappointment.

Great location but needs updating

Location is great! Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The room was just okay. I had stayed here previously and knew they didn’t seem to care which type of room you booked. Last time I paid extra for a room with a view and had to fight for it. This time I got the construction special and was happy to not be in the construction zone. The bed was comfortable but otherwise the room was very dated. It worked for what I needed but the musty smell was annoying. I’m really hoping the construction means new updated rooms. The restaurant is great and so is the location.
