Our extended family of 7 enjoyed having so much space, and being able to see the ocean from the lanai, hear the waves, and watch the sunset every evening. The outdoor shower was our favorite feature of the house! It’s a historic home with the expected creaky floors and small signs of its age, but we loved imagining all the families who had stayed there before us over the past century! It was hot outside during our stay (record high temperatures maybe?) and the kitchen got really hot while cooking (using the grill was preferred), but other than that we found the breezes and fans kept it comfortable throughout, and the bedroom AC was awesome. The traffic noise from the road was loud at times, but we felt that was a suitable compromise for being oceanfront; the highway runs along the ocean for much of area near Kekaha. We loved being on the west side, sheltered from much of the tourist activity on Kauai (even in mid-July). As mentioned in previous reviews, the neighbors house (and back door) are very close to the pool, but we didn’t see or hear from them the whole time - even though they were home. So using the pool felt quite pleasant and private for us. The gas range in the kitchen works but is a little finicky, band it has a weird lighting issue that probably need to be addressed soon for safety (will send detailed message to property manager about that).
