Iconic Hotel in a fantastic location. Hollywood Walk of Fame is right in front of the Hotel. Universal Studios Theme Park is one stop on The LA Metro. So many things to see and do in the area. The Tropicana Pool and Bar is just an added bonus!

I loved the service, interior and dining facilities at this hotel. However, our stay was soured by a $119 us charge for a late check out we did not Receive. We had communication this would not be available to us, however, I was billed for not. When I identified this charge to employees I have it received follow up in the past five days.

The room was small but not too bad. The main issue was the noise within the room. The AC unit was behind the wall that a vanity mirror was attached to. The mirror would vibrate with an annoying sound every time the AC unit came on. If you’re a little sleeper and you’re given room 507, ask for another room.

The pool is fantastic, except that the hotel rents out the pool and makes it unavailable to guests - so often that we were not able to use it on two of the four days we were there.

This is a fabulous hotel with a great outdoor pool and lots of cool bar/dining options. We especially enjoyed our dining experience at Shirley Brasserie (great service and food). Our room was spacious and clean; we appreciated the double shower. Opportunity: We arrived at 10am (check in is at 3pm) and inquired about an early check in. We were told we'd be texted if available and encouraged to check back periodically of we didn't receive a notification. After a few hours w/o a text, my husband inquired and was told our room was cleaned and ready but needed to receive a final sign off, which could be at any time. This news was very hopeful, as we were exhausted from our early flight. But, we didn't hear back again for more than an hour, so I inquired and was told the exact same thing from a different representative. We finally checked in at 3pm. We understand sometimes early check in is not available. We just felt like we were being given false hope and that, as the verbiage was exactly the same for both encounters with different people, management provided the specific language to their representatives to wave off guests. We would have preferred to be told "not possible today" in the first place. Lastly, there was confusion re: purchased upgrades and whether they applied for each day of stay or were one-time uses. We were told one thing at check in, and the opposite at check out. Management needs to do a better job informing their teams to set them up for success.
