When the visitors arrived at the property at 9pm after an 11 hour drive, it was very dirty. There was hair everywhere, dead insects, an un-swept floor, dirty appliances and sink. The vent on the intake unit was dirty and coming off the unit. The owner was called and did come by to clean. By this time, however, the group had opted to stay in a hotel for the evening. In all fairness, the owner did offer to pay for dinner.
The owner was not there for more than a few hours at best when texting that the issues had been "addressed." However, at this point, the visitors did not feel comfortable staying in the home as they did not know what else they would find. When asked for a refund, the owner called the visitor rude on the phone. He also made excuses for the pool which was not in optimum condition and needed repair.
This property was definitely not in the condition as advertised on the VRBO website. Evolve, the property management company, did refund their portion of the rental, but we received no refunds from the owner. Visitors should expect to arrive at a clean home with everything in working order and as advertised on the website.
This was very disappointing for all concerned. Two of the visitors had no other place to stay, returning home and missing their 6 days of training. We do have photo documentation of the home upon arrival.
