We stayed in the Luxury Suite for 10 days. The villa itself was beautiful, two trulli extended in a sympathetic manner set in a lovely quiet rural setting.
Both bedrooms were of a good size and the shower/toilet room was great. All three of these rooms come off the kitchen, a functional but tiny space. Work surface was limited which meant that the kitchen table doubled up as that to. Luckily there is a lovely al fresco dining area about 20m away from the villa with plenty of shade. And a gas BBQ for great evening meals. The private pool area was another 10m on from the dining area down a pathway lined by lavender that just hummed with bees and butterflies, simply stunning. The pool was beautifully clean and a couple of free standing parasols were provided to shade the pool and/ or the sun loungers. The owners helpfully provide a map of the nearest restaurants, supermarkets, banks etc, a range of tourist leaflets and a welcome basket. The welcome basket consisted of six bottles of water, a bottle of wine, a bottle of olive oil and some fruit.
The villa is well signposted from the main road, look out for "Il borgo dell querce".
I've given the villa four rather than five stars for two reasons:
- some of the furnishings could definitely do with upgrading, for example the pillows were extraordinarily lumpy and thick and there was very limited crockery and cutlery, we'd typically have to run the dishwasher after each meal to have enough for the next - fine however running it after the evening meal meant lots of noise and "I've finished" beeping whilst the children were trying to get to sleep in the next room.
- we chose the villa over all others because the owners told us that the nearest restaurant (Villa Bacco) was 1km away. The 1km was key to us because it meant that we could walk to and fro with the children and enjoy a couple of glasses of wine with our evening meal. Sadly the nearest restaurant was 2.5km away and therefore too far for a 5 year old to walk late at night. This definitely put a dampener on our holiday.
