Location of Lighthouse Cottages was outstanding, within walking distance of beach trails. Room size was good-had a fireplace and nice soaking bathtub. Property grounds need TLC. The patio was not as pictured- it was 2 old chairs looking out on weeds, a broken down fence, and caution tape. A sit-down breakfast was provided. They were seriously understaffed, and the hostess/waitress/server was clearly stressed and snappish. There was no housekeeping to speak of-just told to leave towels and trash outside the cottage. The reception for check-in and check-out was not particularly friendly. One housekeeper we saw was pushing a giant cart with the most ancient looking vacuum. That vacuum should probably have been retired 20 years ago. Overall, it was a shame, because it seemed like Lighthouse Lodge and Cottages was once a lovely place. We left thinking this was a hotel with great potential in desperate need of more staff and new management. We would not recommend to friends.

The location around the corner from the golf course and ocean is great. However, you are directly adjacent to the cemetery. First floor stay is not advised as it backs into the cemetery grounds. The sheets were rough and there was not a single fan circulating air in the room. Screen door was ripped therefore impossible to open the sliding glass door.

I didn’t realize this property was right behind the cemetary and we could see it from our balcony. Rooms were clean, however the mattress was not comfortable and my back hurt. Pool and spa were really good with pool water being very warm. Continental breakfast consisted on muffin, apple, juice and granola not. So we ended up going to a breakfast place. Nice and quiet area and very walkable.

For the price I expected more compared to other places I stayed this summer. There was no air conditioning and the shower handle did not work correctly. The bed squeaked too.

Dear Light House and Cottages Management, I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your hotel. For the price I paid, I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and maintenance. Upon arrival, I noticed several issues with the room: - There were multiple bugs in the room, including mosquitoes, which is particularly concerning as I was traveling with my newborn baby. We did not even open the screen door, so the presence of mosquitoes was alarming. - The room had visible stains on the ceiling, unpainted sections, and chipped furniture, which created an unappealing environment. - The bedding was squeaky, which we could overlook, but the overall condition of the room was far below acceptable standards. - Lastly, there was a strange smell in the room that made our stay uncomfortable. Given these issues, I feel that the room did not meet the quality standards I expected, especially considering the cost. I hope you take this feedback seriously to improve the experience for future guests. As a previous guest here I have had better experiences in the past. Never stay at Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages again.
The check-in time was listed as 4:00 PM, but when we arrived at 4:00, we were told that the room was not ready. We booked through Hotels.com and believed we had paid the entire total upfront. However, when we checked in with our dog, we were informed of an additional charge. To make matters worse, my credit card was actually charged more than the amount the staff mentioned, without any bill or explanation. The booking indicated that breakfast was included, but when we arrived at the hotel, we were told that it was not. Additionally, the reception lady, CJ, had an attitude that made the situation even more frustrating.

The room was spacious, only basic local tv channels. The Breakfast bag was disappointing all sugar items. Slow to respond front desk was not helpful when trying to book an extra night. They advised that I had to book online. Then the rate went up $80 more. When I shared this with them, they didn’t do anything about it.

The staff was hard to get ahold of. On our check out day we called at 10am to ask if there was anyway we could stay an extra 15 minutes past checkout time as we were still trying to get ourselves and kids together. The response was “just be out by 11:30”. And while trying to say thank you, we were hung up on.

Wonderful property. Walking distance to beach. Cabins are adorable and very comfortable. The fire tables and swings were nice, pool was very warm, hot tub perfect. Breakfast better than continentals from hotels. Definitely a good choice.

I don’t like that fact that the description of the hotel tells nothing about half of the rooms having a sliding glass window with no screen and divided by a tree overlooking a cemetery. I think there should be at least a mentioning of that “little” detail. Plus the wood door frame had rotting and missing wood at the base of the frame where it meets the bathroom tile floor because the shower door had a missing/broken seal at the bottom of the door allowing constant water to spill out onto the floor. We used most of our allowance of towels just to keep the bathroom floor from becoming a flood plain and slipping hazard for the kids. Also both the window that can open and the sliding glass back door with the “view” of the ocean if you looked past the cemetery and people visiting their lost loved ones had no screens on them so you couldn’t even open them for a cool ocean breeze without bugs coming in. The mini fridge in both our room and my mother-in-law’s room had cut off temp control knobs preventing you from adjusting the temp. This sucked the most because the fridge was stuck on Luke warm. We tried to put left over chowder and chips in the fridge but ended up throwing them away due to the worrying fact of food poisoning. I can see they try so “set” the temp to save money but this “adjustment” ended up ruining our food because it didn’t even work at all. I think they should take fridges off their amenities list on their site if this continues. Also the remote didn’t work.
