My wife and I stayed here over the holidays, and overall really enjoyed ourselves. This area is one of our favorites to go visit. The Monterey Peninsula offers so much - great food, stunning coastal scenery and plenty of activities year round; all served up at that west coast pace of life.
This property - the location, the quiet neighborhood and the access to the beach are 5 star all day long. The views, the sound of the waves on the beach... All right there and worthy of a sixth star!!!
The house itself? Had a couple of opportunities. Nothing that was individually off-putting, but a handful of things that fell below what should have been a five star setup; and I would assume that most is the opportunity of the property management company.
When arrived, the cleanliness and readiness for new arrivals was... 3 star. Simple things really:
- Coffee maker was COVERED in mold
- There wasn't a single wash cloth in the house
- One hand towel to share across the bathrooms
- The TV remotes were sticky and one was missing the battery cover to it.
- General cleanliness was okay.
- Half the light bulbs in the house were burnt out. Literally about half - not exaggerating.
- Kitchen was lacking a bit in supplies. Nothing serious, but we had to make an extra trip to the store to get a few things extra.
- The faucets in the bathroom were missing pieces
- Toilet in one of the bathrooms needs a new flapper as it was running all the time.
All of these are relatively small things. But when paying nearly $600 a night, you would have expectation of truly hotel basics to be in place. Didn't ruin a trip, but was a bit disappointed with some of these details that were lacking.
Again - location was amazing; house, a bit lacking in maintenance. Literally one day and a few hundred bucks at Home Depot and everything is back where it should be.
We will come back to this area, but may look elsewhere for a stay first.
