We loved the location of this property. It was directly on the lake and faces West so you get a sunset view every night. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit but it was a bit too chilly to swim. The well water has a sulphur odor but the host provided bottles of water. We noticed the two kitchen chairs were broken so we swapped them out for other chairs. Also the outdoor chairs are cracked. Overall it was a great location for visiting st ignace and Mackinac. It was very quiet and the lake view is amazing.
The lake view was beautiful along with the very clean water! It rain and was a little chilly! We did use the paddle boat a couple of times! We caught some perch! The game room was great.
Great location for us bc we did some day hikes and went to the island! Beautiful setting with the lake! I would say the tub/shower bathroom needs an update at least the shower head. nice to have two bathrooms but the tub/shower not so great.Tvs are a little out dated as we like to watch college football. We also had cold windy weather and some of the heating units had unique knobs and the kitchen one never worked. We stayed warm though without it! Kitchen chairs are also broken, the legs need some help. The âdenâ is a great bonus to hang out in! All in all our stay was great and the place worked for us!
The house was exactly what was promised as far as space. There was a lot of dish ware and pots and pans to use and plenty of linens. The view and access to the lake are stunning. I believe with a little TLC this property could go from good to wonderful. Some items were dated and a little worn out. The landscape needed some extra attention. It would also be very helpful to have instructions on how to use the heating in the house. Overall a good experience for all of us.
Great area and cute cottage, BUT we all got swimmer's itch! I know that can't be helped, but I really wish we would have been warned in advance so we could have taken better precautions. It was a huge bummer - we were all super itchy and couldn't touch the water for the rest of our trip. The description of the property advertised great swimming in front of the house, which is not accurate with swimmer's itch in the water. My kids were so bummed to not be able to swim.I will say the cottage was cute and had everything we needed. All questions were answered in a timely manner and check in and check out was easy. Great location close to the bridge and Lake Michigan beaches.
Lake property was beautiful. We definitely enjoyed the time outside. The inside could use updates. The showers were not desirable and the sponge to wash dishes was gross. Our children loved the games in the game room!
Great place to stay in the U.P. About 20ish minutes from st ignace which was nice because we spent a day on Mackinac Island. Very peaceful and relaxing area. My kids loved the paddle boat. Plenty of space for our family of 4. We would definitely stay here again.
Great stay during our family trip to the UP! Our family loved the game room and lake in the background. Quiet and beautiful. There were leaches in the water so we stayed to the shore except when using the paddle boat and kayak. Also, the water smells like sulfur or copper but Iâm guessing thatâs due to the rural area so we didnât mind.
This was a nice property in a great location. It is 20minutes from St Ignace, and the lake is great for swimming with small kids, for the depth is very shallow for quite a ways. We saw ducks, a porcupine, coyote, and more. The kitchen is well stocked, but my suggestion is guests bring a sharp chefâs knife if you plan to cook. Also, a few plates you can use in the microwave. The cupboards have the basics, but it is an eclectic mix of antique bowls and plastics. Our only real complaint was temp and water pressure in the showers. Showers take awhile, for there isnât a lot of pressure, and the water fluctuates from very hot to cold. We loved the game room and gathering space so much. It was a great place to play when we had a rainy day. We never made use of the kayaks, but loved that we had the opportunity to use them. Our toddler loved the paddle boat. Loved our stay for our purposes and you canât beat it for the price. Would stay here again.
Check in find left over beef jerky on the carpet and gummy worms in the windows. Bathroom tub that has not been clean and no its not hard water stains. Dishes in the cupboard not clean. Dishes are dollar tree hand me downs that suck. There is barely enough of one thing for a family of four to have the same thing. There is NO FIRE ALARMS, CO DETECTORS, OR FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON THE PROPERTY. The one bathroom with the dirty tub has a hose line out of a rv to wash yourself with. The toilet conststantly runs. The electical pannel is a very old Murray. Those have been Recalled and recomended to be replaced due to fire hazzard. The lights will flicker randomly in the building. There is crumbs everywhere. The beach is nice but the old reeds on the beach show the owner has never cleaned it. The grim on the boats that we are allowed to use show they have never been cleaned. The lack of maintance on the entire property shows. Doors that do not close. No ac in the building but there is no screens on the doors to let the air in. This could be a great property if the owners showed they care. While I was there a night light was very hot and starting to discolor. I unplugged it to prevent a fire.
Overall it met the needs. We were there to fish. The cabin could use a few small upgrades to make it more convenient. I was hoping to park our fishing boat at the dock/stakes but the water was too low. The water is low on all lakes though.
Good time and peaceful on the lake. The house needs updates, like the dinky shower hand held wand, its really for campers not houses, we replaced light bulbs. There was no coffee ir hot chocolate, which you offered, the beds were ok, the tv only worked if you paid for ut???
The property was exactly as described and had all we needed! It was wonderful to be right on the lake and enjoy the beautiful views and sounds! Close enough to town and Mackinac that they were easy to get to, but far enough away to feel like we escaped for a few days! Thank you so much!
Our family of 5 recently stayed here and had a wonderful time! There were plenty of sleeping options, the kitchen was stocked and the bonus room in the garage was awesome! As other reviewers stated, the lake is shallow (we didn't mind one bit!),and if you're not accustomed to well water you may think it 'smells funny.' Again - it didn't bother us. The location is FANTASTIC for visiting St. Ignace, Mackinac Island and surrounding areas.
This house was perfect for me and my family of 4. My kids (6 and 4) had a blast in the game room when we werenât exploring Mackinaw and playing in the lake. It had everything we needed for a fun lake vacation.
This place is a wonderful quiet location with many things to do. It is excellent for a family with kids as it has games nice kitchen and plenty of comfy places to sit. Beds are very comfortable. There are some upgrades that need to happen though. For a lake place it needs screens on the sliding doors so you can enjoy the fresh air and not have bugs come in. Bathroom showers need to be improved. The curtains need to be Real curtains instead of see through sheers for privacy. The red kayak leaks needs to be fixed or replace. With those upgrades it would be fantastic.
We loved the location, quiet, views, and helpfulness of the property manager. We found the place a little beat up and not super clean, with a need of a few upgrades but only a few minor things... A solid value and very relaxing...
