You must be ok with a rustic cottage. Its location was great for us. It is in a tiny village that has a great little market and is home of the famous âClaudetteâsâ sandwich/coffee shop. Housekeeping was not done when we arrived but was corrected quickly through the the host, Jennifer. Everything we needed was there. We would stay there again.
The location is pretty far from the center, but it was a short walk to the village and beach. Rustic it was. There werenât a lot of outlets and the bedrooms were very dark. It wasnât possible to see anything because there was only one small light. I imagine the space is difficult to air condition when it is a very hot day since there is no insulation at not all of the windows open.
Very clean! The outdoor shower was a big hit. My Dad cleaned/trimmed bushes further because we wanted to put it to use. Recommendation: Bushes need to be trimmed back for better access. Burners on stove are tipped. We did not want to adjust those, but made a couple of breakfasts during our stay. Beds were very good. A/C and space heaters really helped. Ice chest was handy - donât mind fixing a few things - ants were in kitchen by sink - found spray and used it. Bought two blankets for the beds and left them. The patio is lovely. I would recommend an umbrella for shade. The nearby beaches, General Store, Sankaty Lighthouse and playground were all absolute gems! Experience was great!
Directions to the property were abismal. Bad start. House was not what was portrayed online. Much older, beds were uncomfortable. Floors were uneven, and walls leaked to the outside. Rent it at a reasonable price if it rents at all !
This is our second year staying here (see my previous review from August 2023) and we loved it as much as we did last year: easy, relaxed, comfortable, great location. One thing Iâd mention is that there are no smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors in the house (which they say in the listing, it wasnât a surprise), so if that is something that is important to you, I would recommend bringing your own. Otherwise, we had a great second stay here and would definitely return! Thanks for sharing this special house.
We tried to contact the host with questions before our stay and did not get a response. It was was worrisome as I've never encountered this with other hosts before. Thankfully we got in without issue. Unfortunately there was an issue with the cleaning service or someone using the place after it was cleaned. Someone from the cleaning service came by to apologize which was nice, but still unsure as to what happened. There was no propane for the grill which we purchased. And asked the host for reimbursement but never heard back.
The property was perfect for our family. Itâs in a great location. We rented bikes and enjoyed being able to walk and bike to the beach and market. Thanks for letting us stay!
Great place and Great location. Loved our stay. Exactly what the description says. Rustic simple a wonderful place to get away from the crowd of downtown.
The cottage was lovely and quaint and Jennifer was a great host. Yes, the cottage is 'rustic', but there was a flat screen TV and decent kitchen amenities, new decking. Some folks mentioned dust and I have allergies, but I didn't have any problem at all, it was clean and orderly. You cant beat the price of this cottage and complete privacy, so just go into w an open mind and enjoy all that Sconset has to offer.
We had a great stay at this home. The home had what we needed (AC, cooking utensils, etc.). It was wonderful to stay in Sconset. We only wish we saw saw the other reviewers that mentioned which side to enter.
We loved this house. Sure, it is rustic (as the title says), but we loved the vibe. The architecture, exposed wood, and white floors felt like a 60s surf bungalow. The house is interesting and there are some quirks, but nothing that had any impact on our stay. It was clean and well appointed where it mattered- the linens were clean and fresh, the kitchen and bathroom were clean, the mattresses on the twin beds seemed new. It was walking distance to the little town, beach, playground, Sconset bluff walk, and bus stops.
Only one thing I would mention is that if you put the address into GPS, it will take you to a side of the house you cannot enter. Go around to the little street behind the house to find the driveway. We didn't realize that at first and had to figure it out. Otherwise, we had a great time and would definitely stay here again!
Very uncharacteristic for the island of Nantucket. I wish I could share the photos. Holes in the walls, a very slippery moldy deck, rips in the furniture, baited & set mouse traps. (glad we did not have any children with us!) The air conditioning units ALL had nasty old paper towels stuffed around them. We took them out, as it was hard to breath with the musty/mold. The home was not cleaned very well at all. We actually rented another place to finish our stay!! Could not watch tv, the heaters did not work well, so we turned on the oven & opened the door. Super disappointed. The pictures here do not show the true home. May be a great place for a college frat party, but don't rent this if you have any health related issues, have any handicaps at all, (tub would be hard to get in and out of), or plan on having people over.
