My boyfriend and I stayed at the Murcott for 5 nights during the Christmas holiday in 2016. It was...an experience. Upon first impression, it was dated, but functional. I will say that the place did not set the mood for the romantic, paradise ambiance we'd hoped for. The place looks charming and romantic on the pictures and while they accurately portrayed the property, you absolutely will not feel a romantic vibe in this place. The couch was uncomfortable, the bed was uncomfortable. Our backs are still achy. We had to kill about 8 huge bugs. I'm not sure of whether they were waterbugs or cockroaches, but those are just issues we didn't want to deal with while on "vacation." And there are strange sounds all through the night, as the walls are paper thin. You will not feel safe. We got virtually no sleep. The positives to this place: the hosts were extremely nice and helpful although we didn't physically meet them. They answered all of our questions and did everything in their power to ensure a decent stay for us. It is walking distance to downtown as advertised. About a 20 minute walk. Pretty much everything is about a twenty-minute walk away, so keep that in mind. The house is stocked with tissue, soap, dishes, towels, etc. These item lasted the entire 5 days. The only basic toiletries you'd need to bring are toothpaste, lotion, shampoo, conditioner etc. In conclusion, the next time we come to the Bahamas, we will just dish out the big bucks to stay on Paradise Island.
