This is a three star hotel at best!
I booked a stay at the Empire hotel for 10 days as my apartment building is under construction and we were forced to vacate. I live in the area and wanted to stay relatively close by. I frequent the Empire hotel often for the rooftop but this was my first time staying at the hotel. We were not amused. While the staff is pleasant and evtremly accommodating the hotel room of itself was underwhelming. They call this a 4 star hotel but I will rate it 2.5. I booked the deluxe room with a king bed for myself and my Husband and they put us in room 816. The room was small which is normal for NY but I don't think there is a difference between the deluxe and standard room. I had to switch my room key every other day as it was not working, they need to fix the door keycard. The bathroom was very small but clean, my main issue is that the floor was uneven, I dont understand why the floor would be uneven. The room was very dated and needs an overhaul which is masked by cleanliness. Also the heater was extremely noisy and shut on and off which is not ideal in the winter. Also there is no room service or bar, the rooftop is a separate business from the hotel. Needless to say I will go back for the rooftop but not the hotel. The location is lovely and it is okay if you have low standards and just need a place to rest our head.
