We stayed at bungalow as a base for going to a family wedding, 7 in group. After a minor glitch caused by a failed text message about gate entry (no-one's fault) got in safe and sound.
Lovely to find a little welcome pack of biscuits and wine for us.
The bungalow has a superb location overlooking fields with house martins swooping across wheat just over the hedges and both barn and tawny owls heard but not seen.
The bungalow is well equipped and plenty of room for the 7 of us, whether eating or just relaxing. Kitchen and breakfast bar area well equipped
Garden area is well kept with plenty of room for kids to wander around in a secure environment as the only real entrance is main gate on an electronic key fob. Rabbits and squirrels also visited us in the garden.
The situation is generally extremely quiet with only no properties within a couple of hundred yards, although opposite the bungalow there was a field that seemed to be used by someone for their lorries (& who lit a bonfire in a skip one day) and as kids play area, but this did not actually affect us.
The shower room does have a large step up into shower, so might be a problem for some older people ( we had our Mother in law with us who could not manage it on her own), I guess due to ensure drainage. The shower itself was excellent.
All bedrooms were extremely comfortable and it was nice not to have to shut curtains at night as they are not overlooked. Plenty of linen etc.
Obviously as we were at wedding we did not explore area quite as much as we might have but we would recommend walking across fields to Farnsfield which has a wonderful bakery for cakes. (Turn left out of house and then path is on right after less than a hundred yards, signposted but obscured by bushes)You can make it a circular of about 1.5 hours max. by using the Southwell heritage trail ( old railway track), but have to be careful about footpath signs. The map provided for area was perfect for planning that. We also walked across fields at back of house to Erdingley which has a lovely little church.
Southwell Minster is also well worth a visit with super carvings ( although Chapter House is currently not open due to renovation) and The Bishops Garden is super.
Southwell Fish and Chips were also very good, although of course far too many chips!
Overall we had a wonderful stay, Gina and Pete have made a super home from home especially if there is a large party of you wanting to visit area together, so our thanks to them
