My family gathered at this lovely home to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. We had family travel to AK from TX and MO (and CA and Bolivia), ranging from a 4 month old to an 80 year old. Everyone commented on how perfect the home was for the gathering. Each family had their own bedroom and there were several sitting areas to gather to talk--the LR, the large dining room table, two porches, and the hammock area. We did not feel like we were on top of each other--it is a very well designed space. The house was well equipped for everything that we needed for the stay--from dishes and flatware, to pots/pans, coffee makers, toaster, salad spinner, pitchers, etc. There are several outdoor activities within a short distance from Norfork. We took the kids fishing for trout at a river near the hatchery (near dam) & had a picnic there, we took a float trip on the Buffalo River, a group went horseback riding, and a group took a day trip to Eureka Springs/Thorncrown Chapel. The 2 year old was very excited each time the train passed through the back. The town of Norfork is quaint, and a perfect setting for quality family time. There is a walking path near the cemetery for walkers/runners in the family, and we loved the pastries & the large cinnamon rolls at Heidi's Ugly Cakes. (They are open Tues-Sat, and on Saturday, all pastries are buy 1 get 1 free. I highly recommend the cinnamon rolls.). We loved the home and the hosts were very responsive to inquiries.
