The property itself is stunning. When you first walk through the door, you’re greeted by a captivating, panoramic view of the ocean through a wall of windows, and sliding glass doors. The doors lead out to a sprawling, private patio deck where we could watch the sunset over Provincetown. There was easy access to the beach as well.
Unfortunately, for the rate we had to pay, the bed was unacceptable. The mattress was thin and creaky with popping springs, creating the sensation of dropping whenever we moved—I was afraid the mattress would fall to the floor! This wasn’t about comfort level—firm versus soft. It seemed like a tired, worn-out mattress that needed to be replaced.
My wife communicated this problem to the owner, who answered: “I have not had any complaints about it.” As an employee in the hospitality industry for many years, I was disappointed by her response. She asked to see pictures, but the mattress problem wasn’t something you could see; you had to feel it. She told us she wouldn’t have been able to do anything about the bed until after our departure. Upon her suggestion, we tried the fold-out chairs that converted into two twin beds. We slept one night on them, but they were hard as rocks. All in all, we had mixed feelings about our stay. As frequent visitors to Truro, we’ve been looking for a place we can return to. This could have been that place, but we felt the quality of the bed didn’t match the rates we had to pay to have three sleepless nights.
