We were a group of 10 - 3 families, with 5 adults and 5 children aged 5, 8, 9, 9 & 10. The kids loved the ‘big house’. It has a very quirky layout and they all had fun playing hide and seek, even the adults joined in.
The house is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is fantastic for cooking for large groups and there’s an endless supply of cutlery and crockery, pots, dry ingredients and even stuff for baking.
We saw stags, seals and otters right on the doorstep and had amazing views over the Loch. We were there for the first week of July and had beautiful weather with no midges, although they were out in force when we were packing up the car to leave.
The house is in a stunning location and very remote but within an easy drive of Oban. If you’re looking for a beach there’s a lovely one at Ganavan Bay, also a lovely pebbley beach at Dunstaffnage Castle good for stone skimming.
Halfway down the road from the house is a wee home baking stall with an honesty box. We got lovely fresh scones (supplied with napkin, knife, butter and jam!) and home made empire biscuits.
There was no garden space outside for the kids but they made do with rock climbing and scrambling about at the back of the house. They also loved using the many pairs of binoculars in the house to look for wildlife.
I’d recommend this house for big groups, ,especially if you love cooking, the kitchen is amazing. We got a Tesco delivery on the first night which I’d arranged a couple of weeks in advance - the closest supermarket is in Oban.
We had a fantastic holiday in this house and I would thouroughly recommend it.
