The property is a bit older but cared for. A little more maintenance in the rooms would be nice. Staff were exceptional! Pools and beach area are great. Bring water shoes for the beach, the resort part of the beach is rocky getting into the water. Lacked information on areas and activities. If you want pool chair or beach chair get up early and put your towels on them. People save them for the whole day whether they use them or not. It’s not right but if you can’t beat them you have to join them. Some of the restaurants are good and done not so great. But the service was awesome. Book the a la cartes as soon as you arrive. Some we couldn’t get into at all.

The variety of food was good, and the stuff was really pleasant. I also was so grateful how they handle the situation with my sister's phone. She forgot it in the room on our day out and they brought it back to the receiption area in 10 minutes. It was really efficient. Thanks for it again. I don't like the bottom of the sea - too many rocks and also the buoys really close to the shore that I can't normally swim, because the water too shallow. It is realy important for me to swim in the ocean. I also don't like how to make the reservation to the restaurants, almost nothing avalaible, but when I found the time, only very late open reservations. I do not eat late at all.

This resort was fantastic overall, and we’d definitely stay here again. The staff are all very friendly, our rooms were clean and spacious and we had no issues with theft. There are lots of a la carte restaurants with decent availability each night, be sure to book in advance online. Our favs: La Hacienda, La Fondue. The bad ones: Miso Sushi, La Fleur. The sushi was terrible (looked and tasted like it had been left in plastic wrap in a fridge for about 24hrs). The buffets were all phenomenal with a huge variety of delicious foods. Nothing bad to say about them. There are many pools and bars, you won’t ever be without a drink if that’s what you’re looking for. The quality of the drinks varies from bar to bar, but that’s to be expected. The nightlife is good. The disco was fun, just like any other club with seating and a dance floor. The nightly shows and entertainment varied but was good overall. We were in a junior suite and wish we had upgraded to a swim up, they looked fun. The beach wasn’t great. There was a sewage run off just by where the resort touches the beach so on hot days - all of them - it stank. There was very little actual sand area and most of it was packed with chairs that filled up very quickly. We went in December and had no problems with seaweed. Would I say this is a 5 star resort? Not really. Is it a fantastic place to get value for your money and a fun place to spend a week? Absolutely. We had a fantastic time and wouldn’t hesitate to come again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand River Princess Hotel in Playa del Carmen, and it was an incredible experience. The hotel’s location is perfect, offering stunning views and easy access to the beach. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, providing a relaxing atmosphere. The amenities, including the pool and dining options, were top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and enjoyable stay in Playa del Carmen. Excellent trip. Beautiful beach & pools. Fun activities. Good beds (need blankets in room). Limited (unclear) kids zone - Expedia pics didn't represent what you get and our family unknowingly had to pay extra to all get access together in the kids zone. Great staff service. Kid friendly attitude throughout and yet great for just adults too. I'd go again.

Checking in was fine until they pass you on to someone to "book dinner reservations" but not before speaking to you about booking 90minutes of your time to hear their schpeel about buying a timeshare. After insisting for 45minutes i was not interested, Veronicas demeanor changed. Was rude and short. Finally confirming with the Bell Boy Sergio, how many luggages we had with us, we arrived to our room missing 2. I called Sergio and was rudely told it was my responsibility to know how many luggages we had (even tho i did, counted them with him). Second day there i was attacked by one of their spider monkeys and absolutely no compassion, care or concern for my well being was shown for the rest of the trip. Where i found a hospital to go to, arranged my own taxi trips for additional hospital care and treatment. One of the resorts doctors called me on Tuesday dec 10th just to make sure i paid a bill. Not once did she ask how my wounds were or how i was feeling. "Natural" juices are watered down or made with syrup. Guacamole is premade and frozen. Paninis and food at the sports bar also premade/packaged. We booked a king size bed and got 2 doubles. Rooms are run down and dirty. We dealt with the concierge supervisor named Diego. And on our last day no one seemed to know who he was. I was being told a Diego, did not work there. We saw him an hr before we left. Safety protocols for their guests is lacking huge. Compassion, care and concern is not there at all. Do NOT recommend.
