Great place! Incredible access to the beach. The pool is best for a dip/cool down but everything else is great. Small nit / nice to have would be having olive oil and basic cooking supplies but otherwise amazing!
Place was nice and clean when we arrived. Our host responded quickly to any inquiries. Loved the shuttle trucks driving us wherever we wanted in the âresortâ. Lots of cute cats around as well. Loved seeing them. Hermosa is a nice layback and slow paced town.
We had an excellent stay at this Villa! Check-in and parking were very easy. Nice view and overall really nice Villa. We were only there a few nights, so did not have time to take full advantage of the resort property â but would return to do so! The Villa is lovely and we would rent it again, though it has a few things that could use some TLC. The a/c works, but some of the mini-split units are not strong (namely the living room and master bedroom) but overall the a/c was adequate. The pull down shades on the patio are dried out and cannot be pulled down. The Villa was clean but the private pool was not upon our arrival. There was a net and we cleaned it ourselves which took only a few minutes. It is a "nice to have" to do a quick dip to cool off. The pool-person arrived and cleaned, but it was the day we were leaving. Nice pots & pans and excellent kitchen (no dish washer, but no big deal â just an FYI). Really lovely place overall. The hammock outside is a nice touch. Overall 4.5/5 stars and would recommend!
Villas sol and in particular villa 36 were awesome. 36 is high enough up the hill that you have a great view. We loved the outdoor space for relaxing. This villa is close to the wet bar and the shuttle was very convenient for coming back from the beach (all uphill) but we also walked back some days. Villa 36 needs some love, the counter was glued back on, maybe a fresh coat of paint as the walls are all scuffed and dirty probably from luggage. Communication about the amenities could have been better. The front desk is very helpful even though I donât think they have to be as itâs a âprivate rentalâ but you can purchase a meal plan through the front desk for any number of days if you want! We did this for the last day and enjoyed the unlimited drinks at the pool. My teen boys loved the activity crew at the pool and we all loved the views. Overall I poor alt would not rent through Vascasa again but would definitely stay at villas solAgain!!
Our favorite restaurant was Ginger. Bed layout was ok. Two queens would've been ideal.Master bath needs a new shower head and is small.Did not enjoy the property restaurant. Poor quality.
This property is in a good location if you do not want to rent a vehicle. We have used VRBO for years and book several a year. We tend to book in ski areaâs. This property had dead bugs when we walked in. Not a good 1st Impression. The sofa an chairs are very dirty. The shower head was broken , the door falling off the track in the shower. The walls were filthy. Thankfully we were on the ho an sat on the porch. This property owner has not paid any attention to this property and I suggest a handy man. The manager did stay in touch and asked for photos. There are many other places to stay.
The property is nice but aging with a lot of deferred maintenance. Unit 36 is nicely decorated, we specifically liked the artwork and soaking pool which was cool and refreshing in the warm weather. The bedroom storage was cheap and one drawer does not stay closed. On a downer note, I woke up with multiple bites on my legs, ankles, and feet that I did not have when I went to bed. There may be bed bugs or spiders.
The villa we stayed in was very cute, and was in a great location. It was awesome to have shuttles available to take you around the resort, to the beach, etc. This villa was just a short walk to the pool and restaurant on the resort. It was clean, and the check-in process was easy.
Would recommend staying here! We had a group of 5 and it was just the right size.
Yes, the villa was clean. However, the photos are a bit deceiving as the unit is aged. Locks, plumbing fixtures, and bathroom counter are loose and sagging. Electric kettle is broken and lid falls off exposing hands to steam burnsâŠthis was reported in our first day and not replaced. Beds are EXTREMELY hard and pillows are old, stained and flat.
Usually, there is more than salt and pepper in the vacation rentals weâve used, so on our way in we bought groceries but not oil, vinegar, onion powder, teaâŠ.we were sorry to learn that none of these were in the unit.
Lastly, the unit was not ready at 4 for check in so the keys were not at the lobby (no AC in 90 degree weather!) and at checkout, with all our luggage-the front desk would not allow our taxi to pick us up!!! He had to wait for us at the lobby!!!
Had a lovely time here however check in and communication was pretty bad. Great villa however pictures on here donât really match the property. Itâs one of hundreds of villas within a âresortâ type place. Our main issue was once we checked out 4 days later they just charged my card another $90 due to a âbrokenâ chair. My wife and I didnât break any chairs but more so concerned that they just charged my card 90$ at free will without even contacting me first. But I suppose thatâs one way to keep buying new furnitureâŠ
We enjoyed our vacation at Villa Sol 36. The property is great, the location on the hill overlooking the water is amazing. Such a great
place to sit and look at the view. Wow. There is a lot of seating, many rocking chairs and regular seats. The living space was good sized with a very comfy couch to nap on. The dining area was great, it had its own AC or you could open all the doors and get the breeze. Loved that part.
The hammock could go two directions which was good, but watch out if you connect it to the steal beam the wood will hit the window.
Kevin was great with anything we asked for regarding maintenance. He had people there immediately. We didnât have to keep calling which was nice.
The food and drinks in the restaurant on top of the hill were very well priced and good. Really good. It was a steep walk up the hill but worth it.
Both pools have a nice temperature and all the bartenders were nice and made great drinks.
The beach wasnât that far away, by shuttle or by walking, just a steep hill. The beach is gorgeous with black sand from the lava. Eat breakfast at robertos. Great food.
Some things that I wouldnât say are cons but just need a little work:
- 1-2 more chaise loungers to lay on on the patio, they only have one
- specific directions for what you have to do with the garbage and where you have to put it, another reviewer said the same thing. We werenât sure if we had to take it all the way down the hill.
- access to washer and dryer immediately vs having to ask because you donât really have access to clean your towels or clean towels unless you ask Kevin.
- the times of the shuttle, we didnât know it ended at 6pm for the beach and had to walk back. Sometimes they were running 1 shuttle, sometimes 2, we didnât know when they were doing what.
- access to other linens like a blanket to lay on the couch with.
- more than 2 wash clothes for 3 people. It felt like we would have to keep calling for more linens. Luckily our friend brought one.
- the towel place open by the pool because it sucks if you forget your towel at home you donât have access to one like if you went to eat then wanted to dip into the water.
These are all things that make it a notch above the other places you could book. Having access to the washer dryer once we had it was great. Loved being able to wash our own towels.
I would absolutely Return here. We had a great time. Having your own pool is amazing.
We totally enjoyed the secluded villa perched on the hill. In the morning, about 7:00 AM we sat on the deck in the traditional Costa Rican rockers, a cup of Costa Rican coffee in hand, and listened to all the birds chirping and monkeys howling. Some mornings we also heard the waves breaking a short distance away.
In the evening, we were dazzled by the amazing sunsets viewed from the same spot!
We loved the small dipping pool. Itâs perfect for two adults to cool off and relax.
The unit is very handy. I would recommend a guest book with a few how tos as we didnât know what to do with separating trash or have any knowledge of the resort.
We did use the free shuttle service as the short walk back from the beach is up a very steep series of paved roads. We also ate in the hilltop restaurant. What a view!!
Itâs a short downhill walk to the beach where youâll find several restaurants. Very casual and family friendly. We only encountered the nicest and most friendly people!
If you want a secluded getaway spot I highly recommend this villa. Thank you for sharing it!
