Two nights turned to 3

Our stay was great we checked in on a Friday for a convention on Saturday was only booked for those two days a snow storm came in Saturday night so we decided to stay an extra night to let it pass they booked us in our same room and made the stay as pleasant as could be all while the front desk area is under going remodeling,they never missed a beat even reprogrammed my girlfriends room key as she demagnetized it by her phone without hesitation!

We booked a king size water view room for our anniversary. We had a concert at the State Theatre which was just a couple of blocks away. The lobby was under construction and there was a bad snowstorm, we had to walked down unplowed side walks into a side garage entrance at night to get to elevators. Room was beautiful and spacious, comfy bed, nice port view. Indoor pool was not heated enough for winter, very chili, sauna didn’t get hot enough. We got a great deal on our room and were very pleased with it and staff. Rest of property could use some work. Location was great.

Trying to park is pretty bad when there’s a convention going on. The renovations made it very inconvenient to get in and out. You had to go out through the parking garage, and the sidewalks were icy. Our room’s heater broke, but they were very quick to respond and fix it. The pool was very cold,which is not something I prefer. They did have a restaurant on-site, and the food was very good, and the waitresses were very friendly. I would give it 3 stars but a little underwhelming for the price of the room.

Parking is atrocious, and $20/night. Worst garage I have ever seen with stairwells that smelled like human excrement and urine. Narrow, sharp turns that we apnost had fender benders at. Awful! Restaurant has a very limited menu and could not keep up with the number of people in the hotel over the weekend. 45 minute wait at the podium and a 45 minute wait for food that wasn't worth it. Same thing the next morning. Hotel staff somehow checked me out midmorning after the first night when we were booked for a 2 night stay. Argued with me when I said we hadn't checked out yet. Ended up packing the room up and missing the best part of a work conference. Best I can say is that it was clean and the pillows were good. Other than that it was hands down the worst experience I have had in a Holiday Inn or an IHG hotel.

My first time in the big city was a culture shock

I live 45 minutes away from the hotel. We got it because the weather was going to be bad and we were going to a concert. I wanted something inexpensive yet not super cheap so this is where I landed. When I got to the hotel I was told I had to pay $20 extra for parking. I was surprised because there was 0 warning that this would happen. When I expressed my surprise I was told that “big city hotels always charge for parking”. The person continued to be rude. I self reflected on the situation because I know I was angry that there were unexpected charges but I’ve worked in customer service before and my response would have been on the customers side. Anyways- I guess I know for next time that I go out to the “Big City”. It’s funny they charge so much to park in their rinky dink garage and then they can’t even guarantee any safety towards your vehicle or belongings.
