We were 2 families with 2 kids each, sharing this house for a week. First, the good: this is a beautiful house in a great location with a lovely view, access to all the beach clubs, and an excellent staff. Eduardo the chef is exceptional in every way, Mary the housekeeper is fantastic, and Sare the concierge was friendly and helpful with booking trips and massages.
That said, we had issues that prevented us from enjoying our stay to the fullest. The car service they sent was almost 30 mins late picking us up from the airport. When we arrived, the hot tub would not heat, and even after it was fixed 2 days later, it was still sometimes only lukewarm. The bunk bed room is less a bedroom and more an office or a maid's room; it's much smaller and cramped than it appeared in the photos, it's right next door to the kitchen and the “closet” for it is in the hallway that the staff uses to store kitchen and cleaning supplies. It also doesn't have a ladder to the top bunk, making it impossible for a child to climb down without help, so the top bunk was unsafe/unusable. A bathroom had water pressure issues that had to be repaired at our request. The owner’s golf carts that he rented us at a high price were slow with low power.
The suggested cash tip for the staff is very high – $15 per guest per day per staff member – so we ended up “tipping” $1,400 for the week (not a typo), which left us feeling like the housekeeping and breakfast/lunch chef service were not actually included in the rental fee, though that was stated in the listing.
The owner of this home, Brock, didn’t appear to care that we were unhappy about the above issues. Instead it seemed like he was affronted that we had issues with his home, suggesting that we were welcome to find a new place, and noting that the previous guests hadn't experienced the issues we had. Things got uncomfortable at the end, and ultimately, the experience left us the opposite of relaxed. This is for the most part a lovely house, but it would be better if the issues above were rectified, and the service from the owner improved.
