Wish we could’ve came here earlier to see the surrounding areas. Made it on time just to pack and sleep and then leave the next day. We were able to see the northern lights that night. I would stay here again. Had everything we needed for the night
We absolutely loved Fishermen’s village, and booking through Orbitz was so easy and amazing. The property had everything you could want for a cozy, quiet stay not far from Reykjavik. It was very easy to drive to the city but you didn’t feel like you were in the heart of things. The place was very clean and had a very cute loft with lots of windows to help increase chances of seeing the northern lights. There was a rooftop hot tub and sauna and the staff was reachable by phone 24/7. They brought fresh towels every day. It felt modernized, yet the grass roofs and location still gave a rustic feel. 10/10 recommend this place!
Stunning location in a peaceful area not too far of a drive to Rekjavik.
Well maintained, good facilities and staff really quick to respond to any questions. (Our safe had been locked open and they sorted it really quick).
Just in case for some it’s a deal breaker- the peculiar 2 x single duvets on the double bed, but we can live with that short term.
The room was clean and the location is unique. Small complaint with check in instructions (we couldn't show up until very late and they kept our room unlocked starting around 3pm), but the room is clean and our stay was seamless. You can comfortably book this hotel, I would stay here again.
Very disappointing. I've read so many positive reviews, yet it was completely opposite.
Checked in at the Viking Hotel first. The man at reception was very polite, however I was shocked when we simply got our room number written on a post it note and told that the room is open and keys are inside.
We proceed to drive to the location. Parking is available with plety of spaces. Upon arrival we were stuggling to open the door. It looked like it was stuck. When we finally got in we have found the keys. Overall the propertly looks nice, however is not as clean as advertised. We quickly realised that the door was very difficult to shut and you had to slam it very hard to be able to close it. I do not recomment if you are planning to stay there without a strong man as it was practially impossible for me as a women to open and close the door.
Same issue with bathroom door, would not close properly.
The cleaner came the next day, only changed the bin in the room, not the bathroom one. Did not clean the room at all and did not replace the towels even though we left them on the floor. There is one kettle available in the room and two tiny cups. No spoon or any other cutlery. The properly advertises access to hot tub and sauna. We did not get told where it is at all. We have noticed a lovely hot tub pretty much outside our room. Turns out its a private one for one room only. The hot tub advertised is all the way on a roof of a different building! Too far to walk in the cold in your robe.
Room assignments should have been provided without needing to call the property managers, along with instructions. Otherwise, facilitaties were clean, accessible, and well prepared.
While the weather was rather lousy while I was there, I can imagine how amazing the views are in better weather. It is a great location at the tip of a peninsula - great to fall asleep to the sound of the wind and waves crashing on the shore. very comfortable room and clean bathroom.
The property was unique in its location on a peninsula. It was interesting, warm, unique. Loved the in room sauna and private hot tub which we paid extra for. A major con is that we repeatedly had to chase other guests out of our PRIVATE hot tub. No dining options mid week and nothing really nearby. No microwave. Limited space to place or store personal items or food. It was a lovely place. We would returned, but prepared next time. Housekeeping and amenities quite limited.
Fabulous location by the sea, a group of cottages and a cosy restaurant which served us an amazing 4 course Christmas meal on one of our evenings. Room was warm, spacious and comfortable.
