L'Apple Store, Great Doward dans la vallée de la Wye

L'Apple Store est une annexe indépendante de «Old Kiln House», une ferme du 18e siècle et un verger de cidre. Situé sur 'Great Doward, une colline de ferme mixte et de bois dans la zone inférieure de Wye d'une beauté naturelle exceptionnelle, la propriété offre une vue imprenable sur la vallée de la Wye. De nombreuses excellentes promenades commencent juste à la porte et la grotte du roi Arthur peut être vue et facilement visitée depuis l'Apple Store. L'ancienne grange et la dépendance ont récemment été restaurées pour offrir confort et commodité moderne dans un cadre rural idyllique.

Situation idéale entre les costwolds et le sud du Pays de Galles. Endroit calme et serein. Gîte très accueillant avec tout le confort et toutes les commodités nécessaire et largement suffisant. Entouré de pommiers (apple store) et de moutons.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night break. The cottage is one of the nicest we've stayed in, really well equipped and with some lovely, thought-out homely touches e.g. lovely reed difusers, Helpful laundry basket and sweet key hooks. Would definitely visit gin!

A beautiful cottage
We loved The Apple Store, it was so cozy and warm and has everything you needed. The owners had put up xmas lights which was a nice touch, too. We spent a few nights including NYE and had a fantastic time. The owners were super organised and sent really clear instructions on how to get to The Apple Store. There are fantastic walks nearby and good places to eat with a view. Lots to do and with 2 teenage boys, the WiFi was sufficient! It was proper escapism and we would definitely return!

Good location.
Great little place to stay, lots of character & charm situated on the side of a quiet valley. Although didn’t spend too much time there during the day as fishing the Wye was our reason for being there. Sadly the fish weren’t as welcoming as the accommodation.

Country Retreat
We thoroughly enjoyed the location of the delightful accommodation. With perfect autumn weather the forest walk to the caves and river was relaxing and interesting. Our host Sarah was extremely helpful.

Comfortable little cottage in lovely setting
The Apple Store is a lovely little cottage, well equipped, warm and cosy and in a stunning setting looking out across the fields full of sheep. We were lucky enough to have sunny weather and it we could sit out in the back garden enjoying the peace. We would definitely stay again if we come to this area. Sarah and Dom were very friendly and helpful during our stay.

A Beautiful Location
The Apple Store is located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by fields and (very friendly) sheep. Communication with the owners was excellent and their response to emergencies (we had a brief power cut) was rapid. There's lots to do in this area and we would not hesitate in returning to the Apple Store. Thank you Sarah!

Property was nice but refrigerator door was sprung and did not close tightly so we had to put something in front of it to try to keep it shut...the freezer area was totally full of ice and dripped moisture on anything on the top shelf... Upstairs storage heaters in the bedrooms did not work at all and were cold to the touch at all times so the bedrooms were cold. The upstairs bathroom sink leaked under the bowl and water ran onto the floor when you emptied the sink after washing your heads. Just nuisance problems that need fixing.

Amazing location
So peaceful, surrounded by fields of sheep. Walks right on your doorstep, lots of history. Beautiful quaint towns Ross on Wye and Abergavenny. Take a boat trip down the Wye from Symonds Yat East. The Apple Store cottage was so clean and comfy, we’ll definitely be back 🙏😊

Really lovely place. Traditional and thoughtful conversion but with all amenities. Stunning location. Easy to access all the activities we hoped to do as a family with young children.

Great location and facilities
We stayed here as part of our holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is perfect for exploring the area. The accommodation itself is fabulous and as described. If ever we're back in the area, we'll stay here again. Bonus was the fact that my son learned to ride his bike here and he loved the neighbours ie the two sheep... Very quaint little cottage. Nice and peaceful surroundings. Was nice to sit out in the back garden with a drink taking in the surroundings and watching the sheep and birds of prey. Nice walks in the vicinity too. Enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely loved The Apple Store! Lovely scenic spot and very accommodating hosts. Great location from which to tour the countryside and a charming cottage to come back to at night. I would enjoy another stay here.

Great get away
Fantastic place to stay, unwind and be at one with nature! Not quite in the middle of nowhere but close enough. There are shops locally but we took what we needed for our stay so we could get away from everything. We ditched the car and walked everywhere. The forest is on your doorstep and a nature reserve just over the road.. Ideal place if you have dogs, enjoy walking and want to get away from daily life, just be aware of the hills. The house was cosy. A peaceful haven where you can sit outside and listen to the birds singing. My only criticism is the vrbo site, I went through the booking process at least four times and didn’t see where to add in dogs! The hosts were amazing though so we were able to pay on arrival for our four legged friends. This place is a definite must for those wanting to ditch the car!

Lovely week in the countryside
I took my aunt away for a week to the Apple Store and we really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Sarah and Dom are great hosts. The cottage is warm and very comfortable. The local area is beautiful. We went to Monmouth, Abergavenny, symonds Yat and the sculpture Trail in The Forest of Dean and I walked down to Biblins and crossed the fabulous rope bridge. If you like walking there are loads of great walks locally and further a field. The only very small downside for us was my aunt not being able to use the shower due to the high step in and out with no handle to aid balance so after the first day she didn’t use it again. It didn’t spoil our enjoyment though and we would happily go there again.
