We had such an amazing time here. The owners have done an amazing job of blending modern updates into this traditional adobe home. We were pleasantly surprised that the dining table was updated - the photos showed seating for four, but there was a larger table with eight chairs! Each room also had an electric space heater/fan that we weren't expecting...between these and opening the windows we were more than comfortable, even though the house does not have heat or A/C. Pedro was amazingly quick at responding to any questions we had both before and during our stay.
The views from this location are amazing - it sits at 7,238 ft, and you have mountain views all around. If you aren't used to elevation, you might need to plan your outings with this in mind the first few days. There are tons of trails to hike in Lincoln National Forest, but we also branched out and explored White Sands National Park, the Valley of Fires lava fields, the Smokey Bear Historical Park, and drove to Cloudcroft to hike to the Mexican Canyon railroad trestle bridge. But our kids enjoyed the Grindstone Lake Wibit and an evening at the Flying J Ranch the most.
We enjoyed our stay here so much, from all the adventures we had, to just walking down the road to see the neighbor's llamas, goats, and horses. Even just washing the dishes or cooking...the kitchen window view can't be beat! There are multiple VRBO's on the property, but you still feel like you have the place to yourself.
If we could suggest anything, it would be a binder with general info (like where to take the trash, what we should wash before leaving, etc). Mostly, that would just save the owner from having to answer questions as they come up. Pedro was so responsive that any question we had was answered within two minutes.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and have already recommended this property to our friends if they visit the Ruidoso area!
