Beautiful property. We had a great time on our intergenerational vacation. Aaron was very responsive throughout our stay. Weâre already planning our next trip to Double Dog Dare!
We had a wonderful experience! Aaron is a delightful host and is one who will reply quickly. The place was gorgeous and we felt safe walking at night. The views are excellent and itâs close to salvo beach and a five minute drive to the Real. We will definitely be back for a month long stay next year when we retire!
This home is exactly as described. Clean, nicely decorated and has everything you can think of. Kitchen was well equipped, back deck sunset views are amazing, great location, and owners were responsive. Would definitely stay again!
This was our third summer at double dog dare and we will keep coming back. The house is gorgeous, well laid out, great kitchen, dining, living space for hanging out, private bedrooms and bathrooms. We love the view of the sound and use the kayaks and fishing pier every day. Hosts are super responsive and kind. This place is paradise!
House was as advertised. Clean, easy to check in/out, close to the sound and beach. Kitchen had all the pots/pans and extra appliances you need for a short vacation: blender, crock pot, etc.
easy to wander to the pier to go fishing or grab a kayak and catch the sunset.
We really enjoyed our stay at this home. Itâs like a model home but comfy and clean. We were in contact with the owners before and during our stay and they have been great to work with. My husband and I checked in and my parents joined us later in the week. The home is in a great location in a quiet culdesac. The home is well stocked with everything you need to cook and enjoy. Thereâs a gas grill and a charcoal grill. Thereâs plenty of room for a family to gather and have fun. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms just off each bedroom is a plus. There are closets for hanging up closets with really nice felt hangers. The beach is just across the street. Itâs a little bit of a walk but itâs a great walk. There are restaurants and shops nearby too. We ate sandwiches from the Market Deli and theyâre delicious and huge! You can share one and get plenty to eat. We ate at Watermanâs Grill and one note is to seat your family and then one person place your food order at the counter. Seating is limited there. We ended up with takeout. Our last night there we ate at Ketch55 and it was mediocre at best. Thereâs a Food Lion just down the road about 18 minutes and a Duck Donuts in the same shopping center in Avon NC. This was probably one of our best vacations since before Covid. Thanks to the owners for allowing us to spend time in their beautiful home. And thanks to their next door neighbor for puttering out the trash for us and helping out with things around the neighborhood.
This was our second stay at Double Dog Dare and we looking forward to our next stay there already. The house was beautiful, clean, and well equipped to make our stay very comfortable. The views from the back decks are beautiful. The neighborhood is in a great location and has a gazebo, fishing pier, boat launch, kayaks, and corn hole. The owners communicate well and are very responsive.
We absolutely loved our week in this home. The location is stunning, with incredible views of the sound for sunsets each night. In addition to the views from the house, access to the gazebo was magical and so stunning.
The house was incredible, everything is new and top of the line. The beds were extremely comfortable, all appliances and AC worked fantastically, and every detail was considered. The space is luxurious and cozy- just what our family hoped for.
The owners were SO helpful. They send us tons of information about the house and area before our trip, and even helped keep us aware of the best travel routes for our trip. They checked in to assure we had all we need, overall very thoughtful.
The beach was walkable, but we chose to take the very short drive due to have a toddler with us - very easy! The house had a high chair, pack and play and baby gates!
It will be hard to find a property to top this one - we will just have to come back! Book it today!
We really enjoyed our stay at Double Dog Dare. The owners were very responsive, and the place was well stocked. Beds were comfortable and it's a quiet neighborhood. All around a wonderful stay!
This is a fantastic listing. The house is beautiful, very clean, easy to access, and contains everything needed for the stay. Hosts are available, but not intrusive. The kitchen is better equipped than any other property we have seen. Details in this property, such as the Alexa for music, a high quality sound bar on the audio, high-end kitchen equipment, and very tasteful color and decorating schemes, indicate the owners thought about what would make guests enjoy their stay more. We have stayed in many VRBO properties in the U.S. and Europe. This was, by far, the nicest. It was perfect for our family of 7 adults and 2 children.
We had a wonderful stay at Double Dog Dare. Very accommodating for more than one family , plenty of fun on property, and central to beaches only a kayak or short walk away
We loved it.
Our family enjoyed our stay at DDD. The location was great and just a short walk to different beach accesses. The house was spacious, beautiful, and clean. It was the first time we stayed in Salvo and we enjoyed the peaceful location with beautiful view. We would stay there again.
Clean, comfortable, and close to both northern and southern OBX destinations. We loved that this area is a little less âtourist-yâ than other areas weâve stayed. For those that like big waves, this is a great spot. We chose to find some beaches that were a little more mellow.
Loved the options for exploring both bay and ocean sides. We had ages 14-80+ and everyone was able to go out on the kayaks in the sheltered bay area.
This location allowed us to explore new beach areas as well. We would never have otherwise explored the former Oregon Inlet rescue center and the super secluded beach behind it, if we hadnât stayed here, and it was one of our favorite experiences. So many seashells! Usually theyâre so picked over, but I guess not many people make the trek to that beach, so we scored big.
Bedding had been sanitized which is reassuring during Covid. We had to make our beds once we arrived, and if we had traveled further that might have been more irritating to make up a houseful of beds. So just know that going in.
This area doesnât have the most restaurants and stores nearby, so you have to plan ahead a little. The pros definitely outweigh the cons though. Weâll be back!
We LOVE this place--house is spotless, gorgeous, great for families. Location is stunning and we love the fishing pier, kayaks, basketball court, cornhole. Only small downside is 9 am check out is early.
This place is absolutely breathtaking! The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do and the views from the balcony were stunning. Every room was spotless which made it extremely inviting. I would recommend this property over and over again!
Sound side property in small community. Beautiful house with two floors and plenty of space for 3 couples and 2 kids/adults on bunk beds. Very clean and secure. Two viewing areas to see sunsets.
I canât say how pleased I was with this home.
It had everything you need. Great quite location.
Three sets of stairs was my only challenge but thatâs what is to be expected at the beach.
I recommend this highly
I stayed here for a long weekend with family. We were a group of 9 and there was plenty of space for us. This is a beautiful, clean house, and a prime location by the sound. We enjoyed taking the kayaks for a sunset paddle. The beach is a short walk and/or drive away. Because it is a private beach access, it was not crowded.
However, the house was not stocked with additional toilet paper or paper towels, and beach towels and chairs are not included in the rental. We were also expected to bring our own food storage containers and restock the cleaning supplies (e.g. dishwasher detergent). All of which I find to be surprising, and a little strange, at this price point--I have stayed in other Vrbo properties in the Outer Banks, and have never encountered anything like this before. Communication with the property owners was also strange, bordering on unpleasant. I was direct and courteous in all my communications with the property owners, but still felt monitored and surveilled throughout the trip, as if it was assumed I would be breaking house rules or damaging the property. At this price point, I expect to be trusted to be a courteous guest and to be left alone during the stay--that's what the deposit is for. If the property owners are uncomfortable having guests in the home, then perhaps they should not be renting it out. Just my two cents.
