My family and I stayed for three nights in early October and had a great time. The apartment was clean, check-in was easy. The only downsides were that the apartment is right next to the busy, and noisy, Highway 5. This is out of the control of the owners, and you know this if you're renting it. The thing that is in their control is that the kitchen and fridge were pretty bare. It would have been nice to find some milk in the fridge or a little welcome basket of snacks on the island when we arrived. We've gotten this at other VRBOs and it leaves a nice feeling.
First of all, this is my first-ever, one-star review for a rental place. This was the worst place and worst customer service I've ever received.
I was mildly concerned about the "pet friendly" bullet point as my daughter and I are both mildly allergic, so I messaged the homeowner asking about it. We've stayed in dozens of rental places, several of which are pet friendly. We received an answer that "We assure you that our housekeeping team maintains cleanliness."
This place is disgusting
1. It smells like an out house and like several cats and wet dogs are present.
2. There's no AC. There's a thermostat on the wall, but it doesn't do anything.
3. There's a loud fan in one of the rooms that attempts to mask the smell/heat, but it doesn't help with either issue.
4. The parking is bad. The address takes you to the wrong place. You have to park on the next block behind the house. There was a white windowless van and a blue pickup parked in the space dedicated to us.
5. It's a scary neighborhood. It's an old, beaten down, sketchy area. Guys smoking weed were standing and watching us walk past on the path to go up the stairs to the entrance.
We ended up staying in a hotel up the road that was similar in price and way cleaner and safer.
Please don't stay here. You will regret it.
Very clean, efficient and comfortable stay. No air conditioning, but 2 fans that are available were sufficient for cooling down the property with windows open for a coastal breeze. Parking was adequate behind property and well lit at night for a late check in.
The entire stay was great for the price. No A/C was a disappointment and there was slim pickings for silverware (2 forks total). Otherwise a great price point for a relatively cheap stay
So-so.
Park in an alley and enter through a gate in a wooden fence.
Second floor which was okay but there was no deck, patio or anywhere to be outside.
No central AC which wasn't a big issue but if you open the windows there is a lot of noise.
There was a portable AC which was essentially useless because there was not a way to exhaust the hot air except through an open window.
The usual exorbitant cleaning and service fees.
At this price I will not rent this unit the next time I am in the area.
This is a great condo but just know that you will be carrying your luggage up a flight of stairs. Itâs also very close to El Camino and the freeway so a bit noisy. Other than that though the place is clean and has all that you need for a short stay! I didnât stay in the front unit but it looked super cute with its own yard, string lights and it was downstairs đ
Our family had a great stay here. We loved that we could walk to San Luis Rey Park and the Rip Curl Outlet. It was very clean and has everything we needed for our stay. Also was great to have the beach toys and boards in the garage.
