Ok for the area

It was ok. Location is great for access to the beach, pacific and mission beach areas. Bed was uncomfortable and pillows were terrible. The staff were not very welcoming but got you what you needed.

Close to the beach

This is an older, well-used establishment whose most outstanding feature (to me) was its one block walk to spectacular Pacific Beach. My room was clean, but the bed was a bit uncomfortable and had only a thin bedspread and an even thinner blanket. I was actually cold and had to turn up the heat at night (which I never do). There was no floor mat in the bathroom so I had to use one of the two large towels for that purpose after showering. There was a rather noisy little refrigerator and a microwave in the room. The people in the office were great.

The property is on the older side which is fine but the bathroom on the back door was completely rusted, the magnifying mirror was never cleaned, the carpets were stained and gross… no where to plug your phone in by the bed,… I was at the top of the stairs, so I could here everyone walking up and down all night.

This is an older hotel, that could be updated, but it is close to the beach, staff is awesome and rooms are clean. It's very affordable, most close by are 2-3x more.

PB Surfside is great value for the price! Exquisitely located in a vibrant beach community, about 150 steps from the beach, with multiple restaurants and shopping options, this hotel is my go-to anytime I go to San Diego.
