Our family (3 adults) spent 3 wonderful days in April in Oia. Fanis's & Tina's cave house is a little gem. Staying there was a special opportunity for us to imagine old Santorini. The house really is a cave! But, it has been beautifully updated and is light & bright & has comfortable beds with duvets, lots of hot water, lots of room inside for dining & relaxing & a lovely woman who tidied up after us every day! Outside the house is postcard perfect with a huge pink-flowering bougainvillea, a nice little terrace & a spectacular view of the Oia's buildings "tumbling" down the cliffs towards the turquoise sea. The stairs to & from the pedestrian-only "main street" are very steep - but the views make it worthwhile (and it discourages the picture-snapping tourists). Moreover, T & F arranged for Alex to meet us & carry our bags to the house! Oia is a tourist town & must contend with Santorini's cruise ship traffic, but it does it very nicely. (Much, much nicer than Fira in our opinion.) There are t-shirt & souvenir shops, but they are outnumbered by Oia's countless unique restaurants, coffee bars & shops. Also, there is a good grocery store a short walk away from the house with everything you need. (We like to cook. The cooker in the house is serviceable. We would have liked a cutting board, a sharp knife & a few more pots.) Overall, it's hard to imagine anything better. Cheers. Suzanne, Jim & Helena.
