Inside was clean back deck was not setup advertised fire pit .not out grill was rough paddle boat un usable was not as advertised and pictures on ad out dated
My husband and his employee's had a great time. Fishing wasn't good but other than that they all had fun! The host was very accommodating. Very spacious house. We will definitely book again!
It is a bit small and the beds are full size, not queens. We found a couple dead fish rotting in the yard and fortunately found it before our dog did. We didn't really get to ride on the pontoon bcuz it wasnt running properly, but the owner was super gracious about it and gave us a full refund on the pontoon! He seems really nice.
A truly memorable weekend was had celebrating our patriarch's 80th birthday on Silver Lake! The cottage was clean, spacious and cozy, and we couldn't have been happier with the accommodations. We would absolutely rent again!
This is our second time staying here and weâll certainly go again. The hosts are communicative, the cottage just as described and always very clean, and we love the location. Itâs perfect for families.
Bob was great to work with! The property is as described. Cute, retro, little place. Lots of games and things to do at the cottage. Lots of seating and sleeping spaces. Beds are small for 2 adults, but plenty of space to sleep. Fishing wasn't great, but we aren't professional fishermen either.
My mother & sisters and I (ages 45-78) enjoyed our week at this cottage. The cottage reminds me a little of the velveteen rabbit: cozy, worn, & well-loved. There's just something very special about it. Other reviewers used the word "nostalgia" and i think that's fitting. You just know that the walls hold decades of memories. The hosts are exceptional and deserve 10-stars!! They were quick with communication and went far above and beyond to ensure that we had a nice stay. Plus, there is truly nothing they haven't thought of. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and so many little thoughtful details.
Renters should note that the lake can sometimes be prone to blue/green algea- making it less conducive to swimming. Just so happened that there was an advisory the week we were there (not the owners fault; they can't predict nature!). But there is a helpful insert in the binder that explains the potential harms and Bob helped us find some really great public swimming beaches at nearby lakes. We went several times and often had the entire beach to ourselves!
This was a family getaway for me, my husband, our two adult children, their spouses, and our grandchildren ages 8, 5 and 16 months. There were plenty of bedrooms for everyone to sleep and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It is an older home and is not updated but it has everything that you need. The pontoon is also older but does the job! Unfortunately, the weather was rainy most of the time we were there so we were unable to enjoy the water activities as much as we would have liked, but we do plan to come back. The neighbors were very friendly, as well.
Ever in the mood to be taken back in time to your grandparents cottage on the lake? Then look no further than the Benjaminâs place on Silver Lake. It has everything you need for a good time (pontoon, kayaks, fire pit, LOTR on VHS, yard & board games etc), the neighbors are friendly and it was exactly what we were looking for in our friend trip get away from the city life. Communication from the hosts was clear and the hospitality was very much appreciated. We would all definitely stay again some day!
The stay at the cottage was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever been on. The cottage itself is full of nostalgia and has all the things you need to stay entertained for hours each days. The lake is quite and peaceful and all the neighbors on the lake are friendly. I would highly recommend this rental to others looking for a nice enjoyable place to relax and unwind.
We rented this to spend time with family coming from out of state for our daughters graduation. This place was great for our weekend. Bob was responsive and very kind. Plenty of room, lots of activities!! The only downsides werent even the owners fault. The cleaner told him they would clean it friday before check-in (we didnt get there til after 8pm) but dirty towels and bedding were left from previous renter. No big deal- there was a washer and dryer. The downstairs bathroom toilet paper holder came off the wall in my hand, you could see where someone had tried to superglue it back on but again I doubt Bob even knew. Ill call him and let him know, im sure he will get it fixed. He was really flexible with the timeframe he let us rent the pontoon, it rained most of the weekend, so he let us use it sunday as well. Amazing host!
The property is beautiful and very well managed. Property has a lot of water equipment for all guest to enjoy. Owner was very nice and communicated well. This is a great place to take your friends and family to escape reality for a bit!
Silver Lake was a wonderful choice for our family. Waterfront without the summer traffic and crowds. The nostalgic house had everything that we needed.
Loved our stay! Wish we would have stayed longer. The property was very clean and rustic. The neighbors were super friendly. The only small thing we wished we had was the solar lights outside to have worked. But overall our stay was great! They had everything from bathroom essentials to kitchenware and outdoors games.
Our kids/family loved their time here, and it was a wonderful stay. Bob was super helpful and easy to work with as we prepared for our stay. There were plenty of kayaks for our family and the paddle boat was a fun addition. While the house is dated, it was priced appropriately for its size and accommodations and so we were fine with older feel. Plus it was clean and well kept. Not much around so be prepared for a drive if you plan on needing groceries or other activities. For us, the lake and the kayaks and games/movies provided by the host were plenty to make special memories and have lots of fun!
We had the best weekend. The cabin is incredibly clean. It's charming and quirky and makes you feel like your visiting your grandparents' cabin. There are so many couches and chairs and places to hang out. The outside was amazing and the owners are very generous with their toy usage. The lake itself is super easy to access from the house and is generally very quiet. Bob, the host, was very communicative. One thing I loved was the history of the cabin, the owners even left a photo book of it's development.
Super minor things that may help someone else planning a trip are that the neighbors are close and like to watch what's going on. The beds and rooms are a little small, so if you plan on sharing beds, you may want to rethink it. We were and ended up using some of the couches, which was fine for our crew.
We would definitely come back!
