I emailed the host and let him know that someone with a big dog had left big poop near to my unit. He apologized but it was never picked up. A few days later I reported that I had seen a roach. He stated that he would have someone come spray the next day. They never came.
It was relatively quiet. We didn't see anyone connected to the property except a maintenance man, and the girl who cleans the room when someone 's stay is over. Only the man spoke any English. All other communication was by text. There wasn't any maid service, and you had to do your own laundry (sheets and towels). We finally asked for a broom so we could sweep the floors. The shuffleboard court used to have a light, but it was down and not working. The pool closed at dusk, and wasn't very clean, and the lounge chairs were all broken, or ready to break. It wasn't a BAD experience, but it wasn't the best one, either.
Juan , not sure of his position there was very nice and helped me figure out their lock, which looked easy to break into to enter the room . I did spend some time at the pool which is very nice . Unfortunately, this place is in a bad neighborhood. I figured I had no recourse as far as not getting charges I tried to accept my surroundings. Once evening rolled around I went to lock the seconD lock below the electronic lock and it was broken ! Which made feel more uncomfortable and unsafe . I had been feeling unwell and now unsafe so I left . I informed the owner through messages and he never responded to my concerns. Nor offered any compensation for my dissatisfaction for his premises . I had asked before arrival if I could stay another day he responded yes . I told him o ly if the fees were the same . He did not reply to me if they were or not , I never received a confirmation for the extra stay , since my original confirmation remained the same as for the checkout date, I figured he did t charge me . Then I received another text ignoring my concerns about check out and he added the extra day . I addressed that through messages and he didnât respond to that . So now I have to dispute that to my CC company . This owner is not concerned for anyoneâs safety and does not respond to complaints . If you donât mind staying in bad neighborhoods go for it . But as a single woman alone it is not recommended. Keep in mind pictures can be deceiving .
Overall, the property was very nice. Our room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. It was a nice location for what we were there for, but there was a lot of activity in the smoking area and one night very loud rap music from 2 am until 5:30am (horrible)!!!
To address the title of this review, I woke up to multiple cockroaches on the wall during my stay.
Having received a text and an email at the start of my stay, I responded to both of those, advising the host of the situation and asking for a refund for one night's stay. I had already stayed there 2 out of the 3 nights I was booked for but I decided to not stay there a 3rd night after I saw the roaches. I did not ask for a full refund as I had already stayed there 2 nights, thinking asking for the remaining night was fair.
I did not receive any communication back from my text or my email. Having not heard back, I decided to contact the host via the app.
While I did receive a message back the first day, it was a statement with an apology but did not acknowledge my request for one night's refund.
Thinking this may have been an oversight, I wrote back, thanking the host for the reply but asking about a refund for the 1 night's stay.
Day 1 after that message - no response
Day 2 - no response
Day 3 - no response.
I decided to send a follow up message on day 3. Still no response
Day 4 - no response
Day 5 - no response
Day 6 - no response
Day 7 - I followed up AGAIN with another text. While I received a response, it was a copy/paste of the original response, word-for-word. I followed with another response the same day but have not heard back since....it is now 10 days since my message over the app and 22 days since my ORIGINAL message/request.
Do NOT recommend.
