Improvement required

Noisy neighbours for 2 nights coming in at 12.15am and talking loudly until 2am in the morning. The walls need sound proofing if holiday makers are to be put next to bussiness people / workers who are are going to bed early to get up early for work, or ask the question when booking work or pleasure and keep the two in separate wings of the hotel. Its a nice hotel just a petty this and the house keeping let it down.

Lovely hotel, a bit outdated decor but good for a weekend away. Spa facility OK. The water in the pool clean and stiff very welcoming. If I was visiting Stirling again, I would stay there.

Where are the eggs?

There wasn’t a bar fridge, the bathroom was old, breakfast was below standard (plates were cold and multiple times we had to wait for fried eggs) and there was minimal interaction at arrival (no information provided concerning the area). Parking is on site at a daily rate.

Hit you for sneaky £10 parking charge upon arrival

Beautiful building, needing some tlc though. Building itself fine, bathroom had cracked toilet, flaking paint on ceiling, very poorly smart repair x2 done on bath. Was not impressed by sneaky £10 charge for parking, THAT WAS NOT STATED on welcome pack from hotel, said free parking, DONT THINK SO......

Comfortable hotel, great wee gym and warm pool. Not evident beforehand but parking is charged at £10 per 24 hours. Food ok, bit overpriced eg £8.50 for very small breadbasket. Staff pleasant and helpful

Ok for a budget break.

Hotel is dated. Paintwork in bathroom needs a good clean and taps rusty. Only part of a roll of toilet paper and 1 tissue in a box. Windows ate old with gaps which make room cold.

No Management Response to Complaint

Stayed in the premium room. Unfortunately as the heating was not working I had to move room to a standard room. No Manager was available to discuss concern when I checked out, was informed by reception they would make contact. 2 days later and still no contact. Hotels.com has looked at concern and said nothing they can do. Very disappointing paying for a higher grade room and not receiving what I had paid. Not the level of service I expected from Hotel.com or the hotel.

Most of the staff were quite friendly. The property appears to have been a school at one time but the hotel is very dated. As the reception is about 5-6 steps above ground level, it was difficult for us to bring our heavy suitcases up. The room window was very drafty and lets in the cold wind during this February visit. The bathroom appears to be 40-50 years with virtually no grout left between the tiles. The hallways had a strong musty odor. The restaurant offered mixed results. They took 55 minutes to bring a sirloin steak (their most expensive entree) that was undercooked for my taste. Their breakfast buffet was above what we expected.

Stay at home, massive disappointment

Arrived early but couldn't book in. Then told I had to pay for parking, despite my online booking saying it was free .. i refused pay. King size bed wasnot king size, 2 beds shoved together not what i booked. The bath had 2 holes in it, ceiling had paint peeling, complimentary water was a small bottle between 2, a glug each lol. Cupboard doors broken, cold draught through metal windows. Oil heater provided as central heating not working.Over all place needs condemning or hotel refurb. Spa facility all booked up and was told upon arrival we should have prebooked as all slots were fully booked.. then why does it not say prebook on websites at time of booking to avoid disappointment.. all in all, a 900 mile round trip for a spa experience in a nice hotel was anticipated, .... would have been more satisfactory in a squat, better still, should have stayed at home. Wont go near the place ever again.

An historic stay

I love the Stirling Highland Hotel. It is a little dated but the rooms are a great size with a clean spacious bathroom. The thing I most love about it though is its history. You can still see the fine bones of the school it used to be and every corridor and classroom is still there but with a new purpose. It is so easy to imagine it thronging with kids. Being built around a quad is particularly charming. The leisure suite is great too with a lovely pool area and great gym.
