Rural beauty surrounds old farmhouse

Beautiful rural setting but unusual floor plan with many tripping hazards. Excellent kitchen and laundry. Bedrooms had great mattresses but lacked places to hang clothes and no where to sit except the bed. Bathrooms were the weakest feature because they were awkwardly located, had some fragile old fixtures and lacked places to hang towels and put soap. If you love old homes, this one has special features. Some original flooring and lovely light fixtures. My favorite was the front stairway banister. Yes! There is also a back stairway.

Excellent Old House

Beautiful old house. We were just traveling through so only stayed 1 night but will definitely book again for a longer stay. Conveniently located off the interstate but felt secluded. Bonus that it is pet friendly. Communication from host before and during our stay was excellent.

Relaxing Country Vibe

We celebrated two beloved sisters who both had a significant birthday two months apart. We had a lovely time just being together at the house, enjoying the hot tub, as well as an outing to Harrisonburg a half hour away. Such a lovely place to hold our celebration.

Perfect Getaway

My friend and I booked the farmhouse and surprised my father for his birthday. The location is beautiful. Morning coffee on the deck looking at the mountain was so relaxing! So many things in the area to do. This house was like being at home, very comfortable in every way. Lots of room to spread out, just a charming farmhouse. It will definitely be the first place I check in the future!

Weekend Trip

This is the perfect place to stay for a weekend trip to Shenandoah. Our dogs loved running around in the fenced backyard, and the abundance of dog beds in the house were a lovely surprise! The house was immaculately clean and cozy. Ample water if the dispenser needs refilled, and an abundance of firewood available for the fire pit. I’m already hoping to plan a return trip!

We had a great stay !

We had no complaints during our stay and found that the description "Charming Farm House" was very accurate. The location was nice, we enjoyed the fire pit (everything provided we needed from wood to fire starters) the hot tub and the cozy living room. Lots of character in this old house and the hosts were thoughtful in the things provided and communication.

Amazing place

In a enchanted surrounding, this house is perfectly charming. We enjoyed the fireplace, keeping us warm during our January stay, the teens loved the hot tub, there was plenty of room for everyone. Comfortable beds, our group had the best sleep in 3 weeks trip, trying many beds on the way! Well equipped kitchen (sharp knife!), nice books and games. Clearly beyond our expectations!

Great yard for dogs, perfect kitchen for serious cooks

I picked this place for the large fenced yard (travelling with two dogs) and the proximity of Shenandoah National Park. If you are travelling with dogs, the backyard is wonderful. You access it via a back porch with steps down to the yard. An ambitious large dog could probably jump the fence, and an ambitious small dog could probably wiggle through one gap or under the gate. I had no problems with my large dogs. Neighbor behind the property does not seem to have dogs, but there were cats. The host provides water bowls, dog beds, and treats. The kitchen is seriously well-stocked with utensils, matching dinnerware sets, and high-end items -- for example, no Kurig, no coffee pods, but there is a French press, a pour-over kit, and a pantry shelf stocked with various ground coffee. Anyone planning to cook large meals for a group will appreciate this kitchen. If you have a large group, be aware that the two bathrooms are at one end of the house, but most of the bedrooms are at the other end of the house. Only minor problem was priority of information. Host will send documents about how to turn on the hot tub and how to use the fireplace/wood burning stove set-up, and tucked in that info in small print is the door access code. Would be helpful if the door access code were just on the VRBO app, and if it has to be on a PDF, put it at the top in large bold print. Fantastic property, neat house, stunning views from every window. I would book it again.

Easter Getaway

This is a beautiful farmhouse with lots of space inside and out! The rooms were spacious and clean. Our boys loved playing in the large yard while we relaxed on the side porch without worry due to the distance the house sits away from the road. The fenced in yard was a plus for our dog. However, the hot tub was definitely the highlight of our stay! The area has a nice small hometown feel with some really nice hiking trails and amazing caverns near by. It was the perfect location for us to unplug and enjoy some family time. Super easy and quick check in and check out process. Loved the information packet received from the host! Thanks again, hoping to come back!

Relaxing stay

The property was very clean and inviting. Jeremy was very responsive in getting back to me when I had questions which was a major plus. He even notified me when he was coming over to check on a few things so I knew in advance which was also great. The house is just down the road from the small town of New Market which is a nice little spot to walk around and take in the scenery. Went to a few shops, and restaurants and the towns people were super friendly. Pack's frozen custard was really good (went there a few times). About 19-20 minute drive to Harrisonburg which is in close proximity to James Madison University which you know they are going to have lots of good places to eat at. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay and I'd definitely recommend this house for anyone who just wants to get away for a bit.

FULLY FENCED YARD!

A wonderful stay by all accounts, but two things stood out. First, the back yard is fully fenced. There are small gaps that might allow a small dog to pass through, but our 40 lb. dog was well and securely contained in the yard. Second the check in and out procedures were extremely clearly communicated.

Beautiful, Comfortable, FULL of Amenities

Guests in the home were me (38), my mama (70) and my brother (56). I rented this property as a birthday getaway for my mom's 70th. We drove down from NJ and made a pit stop in DC before arriving. The owners even offered suggestions on things to do in DC!! Firstly, this farmhouse is GORGEOUS. The owners kept as much of the original home as possible and added modern twists and decor for a funky feel. Next, there are TONS of amenities!! I was pleasantly surprised to see thr house included towels, sheets, pillows, wood, toiletries, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, sugar and more. There was even waffle mix and a mini waffle maker! The four bedrooms are gorgeous although only one has a television (nobody cared). The living room has a lovely wood-burning stove, which was easy to light with the fire starters provided and a huge TV. There are also games, puzzles and books provided by the owners, which was great for our one rainy evening. The hot tub was brand new, heated quickly and was the perfect place to watch the sunset. The owners provided clear and quick communication throughout our stay and offered lots of great places to visit. Although I didn't bring my dog this time, the owners provided dog beds, bowls and treats for furry visitors, which I thought was very sweet. Overall, this property AND the owners get 5 stars from us! Thank you so much for the awesome property! One suggestion: add a guest book to your property so guests can share tips with other visitors. ❤️
