As everyone is aware that just before the long weekend there was a WestJet strike, unfortunately our flight was cancelled in the last hour…we couldn’t attend the event next day bc all other flights were full or substantially more expensive. As we scrambled to call bookings and explain to them we will not be able to make it and hope there can be a refund or partial, the host insisted we can find other flights due to her friend’s flight was not impacted and our notice was too short. We explained this to the host that the strike impacted only some travelers trip, and it was impossible to predict which flight will be affected until it has been cancelled, and we contacted them as soon as we found out. The host did not sympathize with our pain and not interested in giving us a refund and told us the notice was too short. I understand there is policy in place, but I put low communication score bc they could not understand that in this case, it is not up to us to give notices, it’s the airline that’s ruining thousands of passengers flights. Even partial refund of will help ease the pain of airline cancellation. All other hosts, car rental, event organizers were able to comprehend that the airline strike was devastating and refunded and understood our stress and pain except for this host. Book at your own risk.
