Ireland treated us to warm, dry weather so we trekked Kerry Way, Skellig Bay, and the Cliffs of Kerry enjoying the emerald green hills and azure blue seas. Do you know that cows come trotting if you sing to them?
Waterville County Kerry, not to be confused with the other nearby Waterville County Limerick, would seem to be “far from the madding crowd” in southwest County Kerry, but as a popular tourist stop on the Ring of Kerry, it provides both little breakfast nooks and evening fine dining. Just two of us, we rattled around in the big house, but enjoyed the front room with an expansive view north to the loch, morning sun rays on the clouds to the right and stunning sunsets to the left. Living in always-beautiful Southern California, we looked forward to traditional cold-windy-rainy Irish weather and the peat fueled fireplace to provide a cozy spot to read and sip Red Breast Irish whiskey. But, sadly, the only rain we saw was driving back to Dublin, so we never lit the fire.
