I was in charge of planning a family reunion for 28 and was disappointed with the condition of the property and “preparedness” for guests.
Two bedrooms were locked. I had to go around plugging in lamps and changing dead light bulbs. We had children with us who enjoyed the pool but there was black mold on pool side cushions so we only used a portion of the deck space. The hot water is dangerously hot. Most bathroom soap dispensers were empty and extra toilette paper was not provided, nor were there enough towels in the bathrooms and no dryer available to dry pool towels. The dumpster was overflowing when we arrived. There is a fire pit but bring your own wood; paper products, cleaning supplies, Tupperware, large garbage bags, towels, cellophane, clean sponges, dish washing fluid and dish towels (unless you don’t mind using rags.)
The owners need to be very clear to guests what they need to bring.
Our previous large reunion homes were much more generous with cleaning supplies, hygiene and paper products. It made it much easier for all of us flying in or driving. I realize the home is old and expected sticky door jams, uneven floors and dark rooms in a portion of the home but not in the additions.
One of the first things I saw was a faded, ripped American flag hanging by the door - I took it down.
On a positive note, the kitchen was great, extra refrigerators and a great stove. The proximity to hiking and views were each a bonus. Some of the bedrooms are lovely.
