At Banff Trail Riders Stables, located right outside of city centre Banff, hop in the back of a covered wagon. Once you're ready to go, head out on an hour-long trail ride, taking in the sounds and sights of this remote natural area. Hear the rushing Bow River, the rustle of underbrush, and tips from your cowboy guides.

When you arrive at the cookout site, challenge your friends to a game of horseshoes or try your hand at calf roping while your cook prepares dinner. Then sit down to a meal of barbecued steak, homemade baked beans, coleslaw, and roasted baby potato.

After you've had your fill—and topped it off with dessert and coffee—hit the trail once more, relishing your full stomach, your trusty wagon, and the national park settling into sleep.
