Nice option for Basel in a Historic Castle

Pros: The personnel was very kind and the arrangements for our late arrival (we arrived at 22.00 hs) were perfectly setup and very clear.
Cons: No complaints.
Well connected to Basel with a short trip by tram, this is a great option for visiting Basel and not so expensive. I love the history of this complex of buildings and the hotel has the typical high standard swiss style.

Schlichtes, aber sehr sauberes und schön eingerichtetes Hotel. Geräumiges Zimmer mit schönem Blick auf das Schloss. Reichhaltiges Frühstück. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The pictures of the hotel shows the castle restaurant as representative of the hotel....and it was not the same at all. The actual hotel is in another building across from the actual castle restaurant and looks like a warehouse building. It was stated that the hotel had air-conditioning but when we asked to with to a room with air-conditioning we were told that they have no such rooms due to the fact that the building is too old to allow that kind of installations....it was very hot indeed! Outside the hotel they had put up a grill/drinks street restaurant that attracted a lot of noisy people and as we had a room on the 1st floor and HAD to have the window open (no air-conditioning...) it was very disturbing even after closing hours since the people stayed after closing hours. Another detail, not really important, they claimed to have a library and when we asked where it was we were pointed to a bookshelf next to the reception...not really a library...the bathroom had no hooks for towels and that was a bit difficult when we had showered and wanted to dry them for the morning shower. The breakfast was completely OK, not exceptional but OK.

Der einzige Punkt den man noch verbessern könnte, wäre wenn beim Frühstück um 8:00 alles aufgefüllt und da wäre. Aber sonst hat uns alles sehr gut gefallen.

Schönes, zweckmäßiges Hotel an guter Lage. Sehr ruhig. Rezeption nur bis 17:00 besetzt, war ein bisschen Schade. Aber alle sehr freundlich.
