Very friendly and hospitable atmosphere. As hotels go it’s one of my favourite since I came to New Zealand. Less stuffy and conservative and more relaxing and homely nearly. It’s a genuine Victorian building and has been lovingly kept and restored as it was originally intended. There are bedrooms on the ground floor to accommdate wheelchair users. The owners Rose and Tom are very friendly and offer tips on local spots to visit. The hot breakfast they offer in the morning is delicious and good quality. I’d go back again for the breakfast alone. :-) Parking is free in allocated spots in the multi storey car park next door.

Lovely old building

The facade and public interior is very authentic. Our executive room was I think part of an extension, so did not have original features. Spacious, with settee, but no side tables. Enjoyed our stay, bought a cooked breakfast on one of the mornings and was very good value.
