I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and have always accepted that it is not the best but it is convenient and well located. However after my latest experience I will never stay again. The hotel was noisy and the hot water tap dispensed cold water after a short burst of hot water which is not great. But, the most worrying aspect of our stay was the fire alarm which was triggered and which led to a full evacuation of the hotel. These things happen and it is better to be safe than sorry so full credit to the hotel for this. However had there been a real fire there would have been a major problem - I saw no staff either inside or outside the hotel & I did not hear any instructions being given. We were descending from the 6th floor and as we departed we ground to a halt at the 4th floor as people were flooding on to the corridors on from the lower floors causing a bottleneck & a log jam of people. Thankfully everyone remained calm as I do not believe anyone believed there really was a fire. If there had been then it is likely that there would have been a real issue as some people were becoming aggitated and in an emergency I think there would have been a real risk especially to older people and young children. The people on the higher floors would definitely have been at a disadvantage and in my opinion at greater risk. I have no idea what triggered the fire alarm as no-one took the time to explain what had happened or even apologise. Needless to say we will not be back.

The room was great, location is wonderful, staff was friendly. The only thing was dust in the AC and shower was not the cleanest I had - but the team responded to it very nicely and took care of it after I raised the issue.

I had to change my room twice before finally getting a room with out a noisy fan in the bathroom which wouldn’t turn off. Maintenance were excellent, tried to sort it out but couldn’t. Reception weren’t so good in trying to resolve the change of room. I have stayed here 4 times this year and was extremely disappointed this visit. I am looking to stay in London early next year but I might have to look for alternative accommodation

Firstly, and perhaps most importantly for a London stay. The Strand Hotel is greatly located in the Chelsea Market area, in the theatre district. Equally important, the staff are warm and welcoming. The only somewhat negative is that the room size is very small. That said, for London standards it’s actually the norm where size is concerned, so honestly, it is what it is. I’ll certainly stay again when I’m next here.
