A gem of a hotel in Venice
Loved our stay at Hotel Abbazia. Location was perfect for us being close to the railway station and away from the crowds. We received a very warm welcome upon arrival and checkin was super easy. The room was great, bath in the bedroom and modern en-suite with a large shower. The bed was so comfortable that I’d loved to buy one like it for home. No noise from other guests or the street so guaranteed a great nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent, great choice so all tastes catered for. The hotel, being a former monastery, had character. Happy to recommend Hotel Abbazia for your stay in Venice.

I can’t write enough nice things about this hotel. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely and the room blew me away. The location is good as it is very close to the station so you can drop your bags quickly and go. I would especially recommend the quadruple room for families as it was absolutely massive and gave us all the space we needed. It’s not always easy to find good family hotel rooms . Also an unexpected bonus was the beautiful garden in which you could eat your breakfast if you wanted

Amazing stuff , check in was fast at 2 am. Property is very well maintained. There is storage for bags even after checking out. I would stay again at this property when visiting Venice.

Hotel in large old Venetian palace. Interesting rambling building, that sprawled, with interesting rooms (wooden roof beams, traditional style decor, etc.). Great location, in a quiet narrow alley, yet 4 minutes walk to the train station. Staff helpful. Large room, including work desk. Modern bathroom. Solid wifi, and AC. Breakfast was mainly cold, with a few warm options.

This Hotel Has Bed Bugs
Do NOT book here. This hotel has bed bugs. My experience with Hotel Abbazia was a nightmare. Upon entering the hotel it was obvious that the photos do not represent the actual hotel. Within a few minutes of entering the room and sitting down our legs were being bitten by bed bugs. Then we saw a bed bug trap stuck to the wall above the couch area. We cancelled the booking and left the room untouched within ten minutes of entering to go to a different hotel. Of course we should not be expected to stay at a hotel that has bed bugs. I talked to the hotel manager who told me he would issue me a full refund if I didn’t leave a bad review. Unfortunately Hotel Abbazia still hasn’t sent me a refund a month later and when I try to resolve the problem with Hotels.com they say they need the ok from the hotel before they issue a refund. In addition the cancellation policy of Hotels.com is not being honored because it states that I should’ve automatically received a refund for all nights except the first night under all circumstances. I cancelled the booking within 5 minutes of entering this bed bug infested room. I booked for 2 nights at Hotel Abbazia and then had to book again at a different hotel. I should not have to pay for a bed bug infested room. The customer service at Hotel Abbazia and Hotels.com has been terrible and unacceptable.

This hotel had good and bad points. Good: nice friendly humorous and caring staff! The hotel has a lot of stairs and the staff brings your luggage for you to the room and down when you check out. Another good point is breakfast with variety of choices including hot breakfast, such as pancakes, bacon, and French toast. They also had the choices of cereal, yogurt, cold cuts, cheese, oatmeal, honey, jams, pastries and breads, and also coffee machines where you can make your own coffee the way you like it. The hotel is situated on a narrow quiet street two minutes away from Grand Canal, five minutes away from the Santa Lucia train station and Ferravia water bus stop, and about seven minute walk to the Piazzele Roma bus stop where you can catch transfer to the airport, buses to various destinations and People Mover train. The not so good things are that there were no closet or drawers to store you things. We stayed just for one night and didn’t have to unpack, but if we would stay longer that would be a problem. The foyer looked worn out and the furniture throughout the hotel looked worn out. The room furniture was ok, but the pillows were flat as a pancake. I hade a stiff neck after sleeping. In conclusion I can say it was ok experience, but it wouldn’t be my first choice to stay in Venice.

This hotel looks nothing like the photos on the website. The photos are at least 20 years old. Rooms, furniture, facilities are all very dated and very shabby. The air conditioning is non existent . At best it works like a fan. The rooms were very hot and impossible to sleep in summer heat. The rooms smell of damp. I would not recommend this place. It is not a 3 star hotel.

Great location for having to walk your suitcase off the train or bus station. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. The room is outdated, however it was spacious compared to my other rooms in Europe. The bathroom had a tub, but was very clean. There was an elevator but it was a maze trying to find it from my room, I ended up just using the stairs. Also, the AC worked wonders to cool off from being outside. The breakfast was pleasant, they had two large coffee/cappuccino makers and so much food. I would stay here again!

The property is super convenient when traveling to the train station. The amenities are minimal. Quiet rooms. But the bathrooms have no shower only a bathtub with a hand held wand. Also (this is not unique to just this property as we noticed it in all 13 hotels we stayed at) there is no bathroom venting fan to help with the moisture so there is mold in the grout’s and corners The hotel was like stepping back in time. Otherwise clean and everything we needed

This was a great choice for us; very close to the train station and close enough to the bus depot for heading to the airport . The staff were extremely friendly. The room and washroom were extremely clean. Breakfast was also more than what I expected . I felt bad seeing other tourists pull their luggage on the other side of Venice. I was very grateful to have made this hotel choice and would definitely stay here again .
