It took a while for me to find an appropriate theme for this review of Casa Beluga, but I have it now. “Thoughtful.” Victoria and Ricky, the owners, were thoughtful in many ways. They purchased a house in a wonderful location. In fifteen minutes, I could walk to the cathedral; five minutes more and I was on the malecon. Within three blocks was a pharmacy, convenience store, bakery, fruit and vegetable stand, grocery store, hardware store, and restaurants. There is art in every room, thoughtfully-placed and thematic. And there are enough pots, pans, dishes, utensils, silverware, and glasses for major meal preparation and serving. The house is kept clean and in good condition.Against the white walls and floor, there are pops of color in just the right amount and location.Victoria and Ricky thought of many small ways to make the stay comfortable, from the clarity of the check-in and check-out instructions to leaving shopping bags for our use, from putting a clothesline in the backyard to acquiring a functional and unique work desk, from leaving purified water in the refrigerator to recommending restaurants. The owners’ thoughtfulness began long before we arrived as they promptly responded to our questions about being in La Paz. They continued that buen amistad during our month-long stay at Casa Beluga.Yes, thoughtful. That’s the right word.
